here is the situation, i was walking back through the city centre tonite,
im just walking, crossed over the road a group of 4 lads come out of a bar, with another two coming out behind them, the smallest one (about 5''7') out the lot is staring, staring straight at me, started thinking does he know me? I just looked away, and kept on walking. Then about about 3 / 4 seconds after i passed them, i felt a hand on me shoulder, turned around. WHAM!! it wasnt a hard punch, it but it still made contact. -FROZE- The smallest one out of the lot then runs back to thr group, im left thinking do i go after him, towards the group or do i just leave it. The two coming out of the bar, then confront me. One about 6"5', the other one slightly smaller. At this point im trying to talk me way out of getting jumped of all them. Talked my out of it. Finally got away with hurt ego. was that corse of action? opinions?? |

The more aware to danger you are the quicker you see things coming - giving you more options.
Its hard for me to judge, but I wasn't there. Here are a few possibilities, though I accept that my lack of knowledge of the situation may mean some of them are irrelevant. 1. Walking through the city centre alone? Don't live in fear, but don't tempt fate. Groups are safer, as are different times of day. Consider a taxi (worht the expense if you ahve no car). 2. As soon as you had spotted them you should have been thinking "avoid". Change direction, head for a better area / bar etc. These arse holes are looking for a victim. Making it even a little hard to get you will very often make them look elsewhere. 3. You passed right by them? Again, rule 2. But, after doing so, you should have been totally aware of their movements, even if it meant turning to face them as you walked away. And the contact? You should have tactically moved, stepping away as you turned. Some kind of conversationmay have also helped, and pretending to be a religeous zealot can discourage them. Someone on this (or maybe another) forum recently posted how trying to convert them to God made them go "Fook off" and off they went. 4. Froze? - Easy done mate. Perhaps that was the best response though. Engaging him in a fight would have brought the Hyenas down on you. 5. The little arse hole went back to the group? Typical. And then you did well to talk your way from the other two. Forget your ego mate. You got to come home in one piece. And don't worry about the arse-holes. The world has a way of giving back shit to the people who throw it around - but in bigger quantities. By the way, in the heat of the moment, God knows what I would have done. I'm talking with the benefit of hindsight. You came home safe - so well done. |

I hate to simply repeat things other people have said but... Yeh, if your safe and unharmed then you did well. It was a terrible situation for anyone to have had to face.

Next time you go walking all by yourself like that you should carry something just in case you need to beat the holy hell out of a couple people in a situation like that.
Or you could just not go walking all by yourself

The answer is weapons. They were made to equalize the odds. Get yourself an equalizer!
Some runt tries to pick a fight and then runs back into the safety of the pack (He was probably dared by the others) and then they posture threateningly, leaving you at a disadvantage. Hoo, boy! Try that crap around these here parts and you're liable to wind up in the hospital getting lead plucked out of your worthless carcass (if you can make it there alive).
