Ok guys,
I have a rather rare book on my hands. It's the origonal book by General Choi Hong Hi entitled TAEKWON-DO (The Korean Art of Self-Defence): A text for basic and advanced students. The origonal copyright date is 1972, this one was printed during a reprint in 1980. Within the 533 pages, it contains all the basic blocks, katas, strikes, etc TKD has to offer. I don't know all that much about it, as its not mine (I'll explain below), but I do know that you can no longer find this book in print. Now, I believe if you want the information contained in this book you have to purchase several different manuals. It is in really good condition, considering its age. It is hardback and comes in a green cardboard sleeve to help protect it. The only stray mark inside the book is my instructor's signature which takes up the first blank page inside the book. Now a moment to explain... This belongs to my instructor. Many many eons ago while in the army, he began his martial arts campaign in Tae Kwon Do and somewhere purchased this book. Maybe 15-20 years ago, he pretty much stopped teaching TKD in place of ninjitsu, however he retained all his books/manuals in case he ever came back to it. Local people who knew he had this book have offered as much as $300 - $400 for it, although at the time he turned them down. As the years passed, he realized that he never was going to go back to TKD, as ninjitsu was working better for his rather large stature. Not being very computer savvey, he asked me to post it to see if an offer came to him similar to those which he had already recieved. I have taken a few pics of it, if you would like to see them, message me with your email and I'd be happy to send them your way. Furthemore, if you have any questions I'll either answer them myself or find the correct answer for you. Sorry this sounds so much like an info-mercial... -Hikage

He should have taken the $400 when he had the chance. Although it is hard to find it does not usually sell for more than $100. Mostly because of the other 3 books that cover the same thing and are still in print.
You might want to try ebay though, there's a sucker born every minute.

I wasn't trying to imply that you were.
I just happen to collect old books so it's one I have looked at. It's value just hasn't done what a lot of books have. That does not mean that there are not people who would pay 400 for it. I search for a long time to get a copy of a book that no one could find for sale. I bought it for 300 and a month later saw a copy go for 75. It's all about timing. You have to sell when someone is looking. Ebay is really good about showing you the real value of an item though. Every once in awhile you see someone get buying fever though and they pay more than something is worth. Even things they could have gone down to walmart to get but now they are buying it for more and will have to pay shipping. People are strange, what can you say.
