Default Folks Martial Arts: Kicking, Punching, and Grappling

Just my gross observations:

Do you notice that folks martial arts tend to develop according to the average posture of the locals?

Tall & thin do kicking just like TKD in Korea and Kungfu in Shandong, China.

Medium built do a lot of punching and a combination of punching, grappling, and kicking. But striking is still more domimant.

Big built do grapplings like the European wrestling, Japanese sumo, etc.

The category is, of course, not strict, but it is the tendency.

Do you see the correlation of the weight with the current perception about "effective arts"?

Is it possible that many grapplers beat kickers just because they weigh twice as much?

I mean, if you are 120lbs tall and long legged, your best option will be to use kicks. If you are up against a 250lbs grappler, that sucks. Yet, your best option is still using your kicks. Would that make the kicking arts suck? I think reality sucks more for the 120lbs guy than his arts.

Just a wild thought

Furthermore, if the average American stature is so large, then how come we have so many kicking and punching styles here?

Lots of sumo wrestlers are over six feet in height.
