This is the newest speach from President Bush. It should be read by as many people as possible. There is a number posted for victims of the hurricane. This is Bush's plan for assistance.

HMMM didnt we already get a similiar speech about the government fixing things, being better prepared, and doing better next time? About 4 years ago?
THIS is what they spent 4 years building the ability to do? Screw up worse than ever? Man im glad the same people wont be "helping" us 4 years from now Its a good thing this disaster wasnt man made and didnt occur in several places at once...and didnt include toxic after effects...(dirty bombs or worse.. chemical/biological) or we would be really screwed now... wake up people because the conductor's asleep at the switch. .................................................................................. Some 200,000 remained, however—the car-less, the homeless, the aged and infirm, and those die-hard New Orleanians who look for any excuse to throw a party. Thousands drowned in the murky brew that was soon contaminated by sewage and industrial waste. Thousands more who survived the flood later perished from dehydration and disease as they waited to be rescued. It took two months to pump the city dry, and by then the Big Easy was buried under a blanket of putrid sediment, a million people were homeless, and 50,000 were dead. It was the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States. When did this calamity happen? It hasn't—yet. But the doomsday scenario is not far-fetched. i agree 100% all the blame shouldnt go in any one spot...the entire govt structure from the cops on the street to the president are to blame for the poor response to a crisis...the people who were not prepared and chose to rely on the govt or others for help share in the blame. Certainly there were those too sick or old to evacuate, and some couldnt afford cars...but many also just ignored warnings and didnt prepare. people often think those in charge are full of it and ignore them...this time those in charge were right, at least about telling people to get out...but from that moment on it was a disaster in more ways than one.

"PEOPLE ARE F"N LAZY" and cant remember the day before because it doesn't apply to them now.
You are going to blame the government because they told us what was going to happenand warned us about the possibilities af the destruction that could take place...thats my point...people dont want to cowboy up and take responsibility into thier own hands. They did what they were suppose to do...warn us. they actually went above and beyond and spent one minute more, than I may have, to sacrifice thier own safety, and the trickle effect that a tragedy would have caused thier family, to go help someone who EVEN after being told, suggested, hinted...what ever to "for thier safety" leave until this is over, still want to hold up in a danger area, because of pig-headed ness, that we as "the good guys" have to waste ONE SECOND, let me say that again..."ONE SECOND" to help someone like that and have to see that people were found dead in thier wheelchairs, on the street because they had no other way, or one to help them...because we waste time with the same people who after all is said and done...are going to claim un-employment, for jobs they dident have and be a cause for those people, who tried to warn them, to raise our taxes because its the governments responsibility to help them... sometimes i think I am better over here. I look at these Marines, Navy, Air Force & Army service men and women beat them selves up because they are fighting for, IN MY OPINION, the right decision for the better of my kids future, wanting to be home, with thier families, feeling useless to THIER own families, which then distracts them from the mission over here, which then weakens our representation and security over here...I witnessed a TCN (a local) talk a young PFC into telling HER, about his unit after she had a conversation with him about why he cannot be at home to help his family because his unit plays a main role over here...any more and he would have been giving her a tour of the Generals hooch...and someone that is perfectly capeable, is to stuborn to leave thier home...I dont understand sometimes. Please stay away from me if your like that so i do not waste any time wondering what it is that you are trying to say.

I thought I should resurrect this thread instead of creating a new one.
Did you hear that the government is not going to grant LA any money for repair? In normal circumstances, and in all past circumstances the state would be granted moneys by the government for natural disaster repair. This time..LA is being "Loaned" the money..which they will have to pay back. http://www.2theadvocate.com/stories/...loans001.shtml Now this strikes me as sickening. It was not this way for Florida, NYC, or Los Angelos during either the riots(people distroyed their own towns) or earthquakes. To double this..Pakistan just had a natural disaster last night that killed thousands of people. Bush stated that supplies and money were already on the way. So why is Louisianna getting the shaft? Why did it take 30 times longer for our government to respond to states needs than to Pakistans needs? And I highly doubt Pakistan will have to repay the money.

Not for repairs, but for city employee payroll. local tax dollar pays city employees. The rebuilding money is not to be repaid, these are two different expenditures. |

Yeh..people don't listen..but what's the point in being a wealthy country if your soul is so dirty ya don't even help your own people in a natural disaster. I was appalled.
