Default Mens Rea

mens rea; the accompanying intention to committ a crime or pursue a wrongful aim that makes the act a crime.

normative theory; A theory that attempts to specify conditions under which an act is morally right or wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
moral equivalence; the idea that everyone's ultimate moral views are as plausible as everyone else's.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
normative subjectivism; the view that ethical judgements can be true of false, but that their truth depends entirely upon whether or not they accurately report the sentiments of those who issue the judgements.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT MAKES SOMETHING WRONG?
how do you know the actions you condemn or tote highly are what you percieve them to be?
Are we products of our culture...relying on our senses and our rationalizations, of what we are taught and what we experience....OR are we all on the same page as far as innate and universal morality...?

What, if nothing is absolute or universal....and under an assumption that you never had religion, ethics, morality, or the concept of "right vs. wrong" thrust upon you....would you be capable of? Incapable of???

Play with me, here....

Why?:
said what you can.For real.Do I?

It depends on what you mean by thinking.Good example. That's alright.Do you mind if I tell other people:
said done it.
That is a very original thought. It's good to meet someone with such good taste.Interesting deduction. No I sometimes flash during the winter.

Yes.

check out those stories of children that were raised by wolves, or children that grew up alone in the woods. In the olden days people would take their children out to the woods and leave thier fate to the gods. (Like the story of Moses)
Scientist did a lot of interesting studies on their ability to interact socially. Most of everything that you are is a product of the culture you recieved during your first couple years.

what makes any action "right" or for that matter "wrong"???
Isn't anything, therefore, relative and subjective???

And selfish
You do what you think is right.
I'll do what I think is right.

But in the end doesn't it come down to doing actions that are for the betterment of YOUR culture. Actions that may lead to higher survival rates, higher social status, and improved living conditions for YOUR future generations? Man alone is useless. Its all about survival as a group.

HMMM when Garland starts questioning whats right n wrong i get a little nervous...What the hell are you trying to justify doing now? or do we want to know?

right n wrong are relative i agree though, whats right in some situations or for some people is wrong in others. Its why we need a moral compass...you know if its right or not...generally if you have to debate an action being correct in a certain situation, it isnt

Boarspear, You know I was down in Orman beach in March...during Black College reunion week?

What a trip that was by the way...

anyways, I rented one of those scooters from that place next to Coney island and drove around Orman Beach and Daytona Beach checking out the area. While I was down there I saw a tall, skinny, gray-haired man kicking palm trees outside of his house.....this was between the Halifax and the beach. (maybe near the Bellair Plaza?...Publix is there whatever the name of the plaza is) What's the chance that this was you? Do you live in Daytona, Daytona Beach or Ormand beach?

Whoa... i used to live in the house closest to bellair plaza( i moved because it is right on the line between daytona and ormond so we had double the police presence) ... its possible it was me, but it sounds more like one my students since i am 5' 8" ...several of them still live on that street. (Right next to the Buccaneer) i bounce between flagler beach and Riverview (just east of Tampa) depending on which group of students or special event requires my attention at the moment. im about half a block from Laci Szabo's house if that helps. Im down on 6th street in flagler beach most of the time

Hmmm BCR huh?? thats our most interesting event fer sure it gets really wild as you probably observed....very heavy police presence but unless you piss directly on ones boots they tend to ignore you...they seem afraid of starting something they wont be able to finish now if we could get the same respect during Bike week and biketoberfest i would be a happy camper...last year this asshole cop was harassing a guy for a burnout...then he began screwing with guys standing around...one of them revved his bike while standing beside it and the cop TRIED to arrest him for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated it almost turned into a riot and ended with the police retreating....mickey mouse bullshit is the order of the day.
shoot me an email or pm next time you get down this way. Im sure we can find something to do..... LOL
BTW stay far away from HOLY HELL (holly hill) those are the biggest pricks in uniform on the planet...speed limit is 25 mph, at 26 they pull you and search you as s.o.p.

Probably wasnt you then. He was definitly taller and lanky. Seemed like a beginner...a little lack of balance and had a slightly hunched form.

Before I went there I was in the best shape of my life. I was on an endurance program and had been working out about 10hrs a day 5 days a week for about 17months. It wasn't the popo I was worried about. The police were on every corner and in the middle of every street, but for some reason they couldn't see anything going on around them.

I was walking around with my wife (fiance at the time), and I swear there were several times that I was grateful I was in such good shape. People left me alone, but I was definitley being sized up. Imagine; the lonely white guy in a group of thugs there to start trouble...on foot. Several people were shot in one weekend, 3 cars were highjacked, an 80yr old woman was raped as well as many, many teenage women. It sucked too, cause all the stores were shut down to keep thieves out. The only place I could find was a nice Irish resturant across from the street from the peir. I guess they might not be doing that anymore according to the news; and with this Daytona beach restoration project they have going on.
We were down there for almost 2 weeks, and aftwards daytona beach was a pretty cool place to shop. Ormand has a better beach cause there's noone there. I'll be back down that way sometime. My wifes parents are moving to "The villages".
