"statistics" as you should know jubaji are far from the truth
"In reviewing and studying over 448 cases of fatal dog attacks in the United States, it is apparent that the three most critical factors that contribute to a fatal dog attack are: function of the dog, owner responsibility and reproductive status of the dog. There is no documented case where a single, neutered, household pit bull was the cause of a human fatality.” Karen Delise, Author of Fatal Dog Attacks Pitbull readoption centers are springing up everywhere due to the rising tide of disinformation and hype out there. They assess the animals temperment, give it basic obediance training and readopt it to an approproate home suitable for the dog. Pitbulls have won every obediance and training title imaginable including schuntzhound. They have been trained as drug/bomb dogs, search and rescue, and comfort dogs for the elderly mentally handicapped. So basically your wrong jubaji, and by the way do you have a personal horror story like osopardo, or are you just prejudiced by the media? How many pits have you known/interacted with IF ANY? so other pet type small breeds cant kill jubaji? come on! Pomeranian Kills 6-Week-Old Girl September 21, 2001 LOS ANGELES (AP) - A small Pomeranian dog killed a 6-week-old baby while the infant's caretaker briefly left the child unattended to warm a bottle of milk, authorities said. The relative, who was caring for the infant girl, found her head buried in the dog's mouth Saturday night, sheriff's Deputy Cruz Solis said. The girl died of head trauma at an area hospital, he said. The baby's name was withheld because her parents were out of the country and had not been notified, Solis said. The relative has not been charged. Animal control officers took the dog. Pomeranians are a breed of miniature canines that have a foxlike face, pointy ears and long, fluffy hair. The deputy said Pomeranian attacks are rare. ``Obviously it doesn't take much to kill a 6-week old baby but it's not something that happens with that breed,'' Solis said. Copyright 2000 Associated Press. people who buy a pitbulls from a puppy mill and stick in it a backyard are the ones who are causing this problem. GQ Chris if you cant see the parents of this dog AND their parents Id be leary about buying it, if you do take it to puppy school and get an trainer experianced with the breed to give you his analysis. But what do other people who have owned pit bulls and experts who know a hell of alot more about dogs than jubaji does have to say? "Scientific evidence more definitive than articles discussing the dogs’ breeding history is necessary before it is established that pit bulls, merely by virtue of their genetic inheritance are inherently vicious or unsuited for domestic living.” Supreme Court of New York "Breed Specific Legislation is an inappropriate response to inappropriate owner behavior." Dr. Karen Overall, MA, VMD, PhD, DACVB The evidence presented in 2005 fatal attack statistics reinforces a legislative approach requiring owners to be held accountable for the humane treatment, containment and control of their dogs as the only effective method to reduce the incidents of canine aggression and enhance community safety. Karen Delise, Author of Fatal Dog Attacks: The Stories Behind the Statistics "Concerns about "dangerous" dogs have caused many local governments to consider supplementing existing animal control laws with ordinances directed toward control of specific breeds or types of dogs. Members of the Task Force believe such ordinances are inappropriate and ineffective." American Veterinarian Association Task Force on Canine Aggression and Human-Canine Interactions "The AVMA supports dangerous animal legislation by state, county, or municipal government provided that legislation does not refer to specific breeds or classes of animals." American Veterinary Medical Association "Dangerous and/or vicious animals should be labeled as such as a result of their actions or behavior and not because of their breed." National Animal Control Association In my opinion, Pit bulls are the least likely to be human aggressive. On the whole, you have to do a lot of work to make them aggressive to people. --Sue Frisch, Dessin Animal Shelter manager Pit bulls are especially good at pleasing people since they are strong and smart, they learn quickly and they are very adaptable." -- Rob Mullin, dog trainer, owner, "K-9 Wizard & Co." Trumbell, Connecticut "WE have not had a single serious problem with any of the pit bull adoptions. In fact, people tell us their pit bull is the best dog they've ever had. Some come back for a second one." -- Marsha Biggar, "Adopt-A-Pet," Stamford, CT, from "Man's Best Friend" "THIS dog is smart, playful, affectionate and loves to sit and watch TV. I've had many other kinds of dogs, but this one is calmer than a Lab or a golden retreiver and easier to train. " -- Susan O'Rourke, pit bull owner, from "Man's Best Friend" "HE'S kind, generous, never showed one moment of aggression, even after all he has been through.'' --Virginia Nicholson, who adopted an abused pit bull "She seems like a very happy and well-adjusted dog - amazing given her early experiences! Although she had no idea who I was, she was gentle and affectionate with me from the minute I first held her. What a wonderful heart." --Liesl, who adopted Blossom, an abused pit bull, "He is a favorite of everyone in my building, including the kids, one of whom once hit him on the head with a stick for fun. What was his reaction? He shook his head, grinned, and went back to happily licking his attacker." -- Amber Niewold, pit bull owner/rescuer, "She's the one dog I always trust to tolerate human babies and small children." -- Donna Lindsay, owner of RCA, from "Alaska's First Certified Hearing Dog" "I FIND them to be the easiest dog to train of any breed that I've ever worked with, both in terms of intelligence and devotion." -- dog trainer/pit bull owner Bill Berloni, who has trained six pit bulls for Broadway shows, from "It's Jaws Not True!" "SHE'S so loyal, affectionate and sensitive. If I ever get another dog, it'd have to be a pit, because I love their personalities." -- Bernadette Peters, singer/actress, speaking about her pit bull, Stella, from "It's Jaws Not True!" "I grew up having all kinds of dogs, but I've found that pit bulls are the most affectionate and by far the smartest." -- Tom Maxson, from "Man's Best Friend" "SOMEHOW he had managed to come through unimaginable hardship, not only clinging to life, but maintaining a positive attitude, which was, to me, an inspiration." -- Dr. Max Rust, DVM, owner of a pit bull rescued in a cruelty case, from "Pete the Healer" Pit bulls are especially good at pleasing people since they are strong and smart, they learn quickly and they are very adaptable." -- Rob Mullin, dog trainer, owner, "Man's Best Friend" |

Well that's important information. What percentage of fatal dog attacks on humans were committed by Pomeranians? We know the largest percentage were by pit-bulls but I guess Pomeranians were second or third. If that is the case, I'd be happy to include them in the list of dogs only a moronic egotistical shitbag would get for a pet. You are trying to piss against the tide, and no amount of lying or anecdotal evidence will change the truth.

YOu know, I will give Gonzo this one point: THere are a lot of d**ks who get dogs not because they want a dog, but because they want a dog to pump up their own sense of bad-assedness. So they guys get a Pit bull (obviously the most bad-ass dog around), buy it a chain and treat it like a lawn ornament - yell at it when it barks, walk it once every six months, and generally ignore it the rest of the time.
In other words, they mistreat it to the point that it becomes just what we're talking about - an angry and non-socialized accident waiting to happen. Chows seem to be the dog of choice around here, plenty of mean looking Chows in backyards.

Thank you Greg for summing up my whole point of this post, Jubaji if you think that only people who need to pump up their ego own these dogs you are sadly mistaken. Thanks for avoiding the question about your own interaction with APBT's but if you dont have any experiances with these dogs, I guess you let the media give you your opinion instead of being open to an alternative view. So just keep forming opinions based on word of mouth media hype and innuendo. How many pitbulls have you met? Just please answer that, it will give me a chance to consider respecting your opinion.
Why exactly would anyone want to make a comfort dog, or rescue dog, or drug/bomb dog out of an APBT because they need to pump up their ego? or because this breed is one of the most capable for the job at hand. How could these dogs exist for generations and this epidemic of attacks not be recorded? Maybe because it didn't happen? Maybe because people took buying, training and owning a dog a little more serious, it is a piece of nature and my point with that lapdog killer was that the ability to kill lies with all dogs in the wrong situation. The focus is on pits because of a MAN MADE situation. There was no pitbull problem before 1980's please make a point to show me otherwise or I am done debating you. |

You didn't ask me before now (unless I missed something in one of your spin-fests) Not that it has the least bearing on the deciding the matter at hand, but I've known loads of pit bulls. My dog was playing with three of them at the park just yesterday. I didn't say every single one is an unstoppable killing machine, and I didn't say they couldn't sniff a bomb or whatever, I said they were a stupid choice for a pet. And so they are.

Who gives a shit when it started or why? The facts of the matter now are as they have been documented. Go to a museum and soak in all the history you want, it doesn't alter the present reality.

When facts are published and reported they are a pretty good source of information. Just because you are allergic to them doesn't make your fantasy world any more real. I have documented facts, reports, scientific studies. You have posted cute pictures from 50+ years ago.
