I believe that right before you die, and a few moments after you die, your brain produces more of the chemicals that it produces when you dream or have a near death experience. The chemical, or at least one of them that im talking about is called, DMT. Some researchers claim that it is responsible(or mostly responsible) for our dreams and imagination. This chemical, DMT, is produced in a gland, that is located in the dead center of your brain. In a way, it is your third eye.

In fact, reaching "enlightenment" in hinduism(or whatever), is due to training your mind(brain) to produce more levels of DMT and other chemicals that come from your Pineal(sp?) gland located in the absolute center of your brain.
In Yoga, people train their minds to do this too, i really dont know much about it, so im just spewing whatever comes to mind.

So when you die, your brain is actually still functioning for a short time even after you are pronounced dead. And with the powerful chemicals like DMT(there's others too) that are being discharged rapidly into the rest of your brain, you will experience a new world. Whether it be zooming through space, being in heaven, talking to a deity, your experience will seem like it is for hours perhaps even days, even though youre dead and all brain activity of yours will be shutting down in a couple minutes. And after that amazing experience, you cease to have any conscience, you just die.

If you believe in something, it becomes real.

Uh-hem....

Ever done DMT? Ayahuasca? Any of the analog triptamines of naturally found DMT, such as 5-Aco-Dipt or 5-MeO AMT? how 'bout AMT and it's analog's? Mescaline? Salvia Divinorium? Lysergic Acid Diethaylmide? Methyl-dioxy-methanpetetamine?

No, to all. If i ever had the chance, i would definitely do DMT or Ayahuasca without question. But we do trip on DMT every night when we sleep you know...

So here they are;

The Bible
Driven by Eternity - John Bevere
Heaven - Randy Alcorn
Heaven & Hell - Edward Donnelly
Returnings - John Aurelio
Embraced by The Light - Betty J. Eadie
The Life of the World to Come - The Albert Cardinal Meyer Lectures

Bottom line (from a Christian Perspective):
When you die your body deteriorates at a much faster rate than when you are alive. Eventually certain (soft) parts deteriote completely and cease to exist. Bones and other "hard" matter may exist for much longer.
Your soul, on the other hand, is immortal and (if you are a Christian) goes to a temporary Heaven, sometimes referred to as the bosom of Abraham, which is a spiritual realm. There you are in the presence of God until Judgement Day.

On the Day of Judgement your desintegrated physical body is re-integrated, resurrected and joined to your soul. You will then be caught up to the Heavens as a physical being in a resurrected, glorified body, there to be judged and because you're redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb, to dwell in the New Kingdom in the presence of God forever.

If you're not a Christian you still go through a similar progression except you are never in the presence of God until you are judged and then you're cast into Hell forever (better get a clue now, before it's too late).
