Default What do you think happens when you die?

Personally, I believe in an after life. One is where you die and live in your dreams or fantasy(my favorite opinion), or you live in another life on earth or in the universe. I think that there are other dimentions with life; reality(our world), and others. Nobody can proove that there is only a reality. Nobody can proove that there is other dimentions or a fantasy world. Nobody can proove that there is a heaven or hell. So anything in the universe can be possible in my opinion. What are your thoughts on this topic.

i think the after life will be a lot like hanging out in hawaii, except you dont need any sun screen and there are no sharks in the water.

On another note, believing in something doesn't make it true.

excellent point. although its not true, some scientists believe in things that dont seem possible. what would happen if it was true? anything can be possible(except for blowing everything up with your mind...well not on this planet at least). you see, the things we know are a like an atom compaired to the size of the universe. if we can know everything(i dont think that can be possible without our minds overloading) then the universe wont be the universe. do you kinda see where im getting at?

Any good books by those who try to document the after life?

I don't know, you all don't know and nobody in the world knows.

But we're all going to find out!

I believe that when you die, you cease being a conscious and sentient living being...and become a paper weight.
After which you become ashes or a taxedermied corpse...and dissolve or rot respectively.

I believe that there is no soul, no eternal terrestrial or cosmic life or energy source, no divine plan or cosmic interrelatedness. You simply exist, as you percieve your subjective reality and sense of self inside your head, then you die and the part of you that is aware of your existence ceases to exist...and then you are just meat, because you are no longer aware of your "being-ness".

There is no point to life, no meaning, nothing. It just is, and then...soon...it isn't.

Happy happy joy joy happy happy joy joy happy happy happy xoxoxoxo joy joy joy.

The Good Book.

Actually yes, I recently did a study on this particular subject (from a Judeo-Christian perspective) and came across several good books on the subject. I'll have to post them later, tho - I'm not at home right now...

I believe that there is a heaven where you can eat McDonalds all day and cary just about any weapon you want to.

Any pacifist Commie bastards who manage to steal their fookin cowardly way in there will then be sent straight to hell when you gut them with your Spyderco.

I believe that right before you die, and a few moments after you die, your brain produces more of the chemicals that it produces when you dream or have a near death experience. The chemical, or at least one of them that im talking about is called, DMT. Some researchers claim that it is responsible(or mostly responsible) for our dreams and imagination. This chemical, DMT, is produced in a gland, that is located in the dead center of your brain. In a way, it is your third eye.

In fact, reaching "enlightenment" in hinduism(or whatever), is due to training your mind(brain) to produce more levels of DMT and other chemicals that come from your Pineal(sp?) gland located in the absolute center of your brain.
In Yoga, people train their minds to do this too, i really dont know much about it, so im just spewing whatever comes to mind.

So when you die, your brain is actually still functioning for a short time even after you are pronounced dead. And with the powerful chemicals like DMT(there's others too) that are being discharged rapidly into the rest of your brain, you will experience a new world. Whether it be zooming through space, being in heaven, talking to a deity, your experience will seem like it is for hours perhaps even days, even though youre dead and all brain activity of yours will be shutting down in a couple minutes. And after that amazing experience, you cease to have any conscience, you just die.

If you believe in something, it becomes real.
