I have read a few thread recently and I wanted to make a general comment to our regular members.
Please remember that the board is constantly gaining new members, demeaning them for asking questions or for stating opinions that you feel are less informed than your own is not warranted. Remember just because we have seen the same question 100's of times, it may very well be their first time asking it. While they should search the forum to find the answers that are already there, we all know that isn't going to happen. So please try to be considerate. Remember they may very well be someone's new student, lets not try and destroy their enthusiasm for martial arts and the martial arts community after a single post. Also saying that sounds like something a 16 year old would say, may very well be because they are 16. Please treat everyone with at least as much respect as you would like shown to you and your students, children, friends or whatever. Thanks, Excessiveforce

I studied a CMA for several years, and although I learned a lot it cannot be denied that there are a lot of flaws in those systems. A big part of the problem is that when someone points out (accurately) that a CMA guy is dead wrong about something they start whining about disprespect rather than examining what they might be able to do better. I realize that we have some very insecure members that resent people like Thai Bri because they can't take a joke but without people to constantly challenge and question the CMAs the forum is doomed to be taken over by charlatanism, old-wives tales, and just plain old bullsh*t. I don't want to see this place get taken over by useless flame-wars but lets not get so sensitive that we can't speak our minds or point out nonsense when we see it.

I am all for new members. I am also all for people seeing all sides to the argument. And if they ask a questio that has been asked a hundred times? So what? Let's answer it as best we can because, last time around, it was probably one of us asking it! |

Not a great post. A typical attempt at stifling discussion when you cannot actually counter the arguments. |

In spirit I was first to put my hand up, also suggesting that 'courtesy' is lacking in other areas of the board and not just that extended to noobs. SL and TB should get a room though. |

That's why I like the reputation function. It is very unique.

The fact of the matter is that we could all learn from each other if we would all just shut up and listen, instead of just waiting for our turn to talk.
What works for you may not work for someone else. Size, body type, injuries from the past and other things are major factors for why some people choose certain arts. The truth is we all are built on the same structural principals. Listen watch lear and criticize constructively. If you don't understand something ask don't lash out. If you don't like what someone says discuss it. If you feel you will get to emotional over it then don't start a fight wait till you can be an adult about it. This is really the pot calling the kettle black coming from me, but I have made a greater attempt a being adult on these forums because I enjoy discussing Martial arts of any type. I don't prefer ring arts myself so I no longer post in the MMA forums because thats not my gimmick. I don't argue with airplane mechanics because I don't know dick about it, I don't roll so I'm not going to argue with you about it. Other people have diffrent mindsets and see things diffrent than you do (you being everyone). So while one concept may mean something in your head someone else is seeing it from a whole diffrent angle. I think this would be great if it was more a place to share ideas and less a place to bring back highschool drama bullsheet.
