Thumbs up Why do you like defend.net?

I like defend.net

Why? Several reasons:

1. This is probably the most family-oriented MA site of all sites and has had some well-noted martial artists, self-protection gurus, military men and some downright interesting people.

2. The site goes above and beyond the topic of martial arts. Variety is the spice of life - add to it, that the non-MA topics are usually researched by various members who have differing backgrounds and can offer different angles on the subjects.

3. Moderators are pretty much laissez-faire.

4. Bring Boar back (ok, I snuck that one in). We could use an expert in internal arts fighting methods, breathing, meditation etc. Its an unexplored area of physical development/health.

5. Even though there are conflicts and differences of opinion, they work themselves out, despite verbal brawling...lol.

6. The few women that are on here tolerate us and don't find their femininity threatened (well, I hope not) - like Cakegirl, Lil'demon, Tree, Stabby etc.

it is just one of the better forums I have found imho

been around to Bullshido and all the rest and the average posters age/ I.Q. was too low for my taste

I still go to txmma.com to keep up on the local fights

reasons I like Defend.net

1. good topics--from MA related stuff to humor you can find timely stuff as well as classic topics

2. good regulars--Including a host of real great martial artists from allmost all disciplines too many too mention, plus all the great guest stars from
Jubaji to Dickhardman, Garland to Mattbla, Defend.net has some interesting characters to say the least.

3. good moderators--- Tim and the boys let the mud fly freely, but will lay down the digital goon hands when they feel its neccessary

I Like Judoforum, and Aikiwebforum, but I love deluxe martial arts forum.

Number one reason: Jubaji!!

Number two reason: Wide variety of posters and opinions. Everything from
MMA thugs to martial arts mystical sages. Guys like Garland who are super young, yet know more about life then people my age. Guys like Mike Brewer and others like him who are military or law enforcement. People like Jubaji who never dissapoint! Conservative Christians like TomYum who actually have great ideas and ethics, and who I enjoy reading posts from. Democrats like me, or those who are libertarians. Guys who like weapons. Guys who like empty hand. People who are not afraid to voice thier opinions, no matter how extreme. (At least most everyone here presents well thought out opinions.) Middle Eastern posters who love martial arts and are obviously friends of ours. English guys who get in lots of fights in pubs and on the soccer field. Even creative trolls like Matbla, who can make me laugh at the sheer absurdity of thier posts!

Happy mother's day guys!!

Some people call me moderate...LOL. It always depends on whom is observing you, right?

Thanks and I agree with all the people you mentioned!

I like the way the forums are segregated by country and discipline. I also like the way people respect each other inspite of being across the globe or across the country. I also like the smilies or emicons.

Default The members make it what it is...

It's a nice distraction from the mundane routine of daily life...

And you guys are okay too.

I especially enjoy the big guns we have here from JKD and other styles.

The humble students and instructors that come here to learn and share their experiences.

Less like a cult and more like an extended family.

Hat's off to our moderators and Mr. Mousel for keeping it up.

Default Who are your favorite top 20 defend.net posters?

I just had a list of sixteen(was working my way to twenty people) but it got erased so everyone is cool except people who just come here trying to sell stuff or post about the newest "style" they just invented.

Mike B.

He created two new sections on the forum, has been a major contributor in both, has been an active moderator and has gone a long way to teach us civies about the military.
