Default Using unknown muscles

Ever since you started training in martial arts, have you got any muscle cramps or spasms from using muscles you haven't used before and did it really hurt?

Every time I've started a new martial art, I've had new sore muscles and such. I expect it's true that any new sport will introduce you to new sport specific muscles.

Martial arts in particular involve a lot of off-piste exercise likely to cause soreness and pulled muscle to the new guy. Beginner grapplers for instance, get a lot of sprained fingers and sore backs until they strengthen up and learn what not to do.

I think a new martial artist can expect that sort of thing for a while. That being said:

1) It's pretty common for people (men anyway) to cause themselves injury trying to muscle their way through things. This leads to strained muscles, torqued backs, etc. Try to relax, if you are using raw muscle, you are probably doing it wrong.

2) Spasms and cramps may be due to exhaustion and they may be due to lack of water.
- If you are going from a not very athletic lifestyle to intense regular workouts, get a one-liter bottle and drain it three times a day. Yoiu'll be pissing every ten minutes, but your body will thank you in lots of of little ways.

I drink alot of milk and water. Since I am taking antibiotics for acne, I am required to drink alot of water so thats good. Is there a downside to drinking alot of milk(besided fat)? I drink 1% percent and about 6 big glasses a day.

milk has lots of protein. protein will help repair your sore body as well as help you build muscle so you will look better when you do your hulk hogan poses.

Milk should be A-OK for you as long as you're not lactose intolerant like me...

Well for me, I can eat whatever I want. The only catch is if I eat dairy products I get monstrous gas, gas that could probably kill a buffalo.

That is strange, I think I read somewhere that 90 some odd percent of asians are lactose intolerant. That's not fair!
