Bad idea. The media claims they are dangrous and that they should be banned. But what they don't know is that banning them will make people try and buy illegal explosives such as dangerous m80s and quarter sticks from underground sellers or worse, making their own bombs. It saddens me that many people fool around with them and give fireworks a bad reputation. They should be treated with respect, used with safety and after all, they are part of many countries' traditions.

a professor of mine at grad school was at a 4th of july BBQ he was sitting in a group of people eating and enjoying the day, when someones errant rocket from nearby went through the crowd and hit him directly in the eye. It blew out his eye, and he had to have the eye removed.

made me rethink some of the things we did as kids with fireworks

here was a guy minding his own business and somebody not even a part of their group ends up taking his eye.

I have always liked fireworks but after seeing what he went through I think i'll keep away from them

Things do go wrong sometimes even if all the safety precations are met but you can't just go all out and blame fireworks for every fire. Its like how people are abusive to other people after they drank acohol or on drugs.
