Try fasting, you don't have to eat at every meal.. besides, Americans eat too much anyway, that's why we have this Obesity epidemic. That saves $$ too.

hang out under the overpass instead of in a shelter
drink mouthwash instead of beer
huff airplane glue instead of gasoline (with the price of gas these days, it is the more financially savvy choice)
use garbage instead of cardboard boxes to sleep on
steal from other hobos.

well that was the problem, there were no portable toilets on this job site to hang out in, so i just went to sleep on this big pile of garbage and wood blocks that i was in the middle of cleaning up.
