Oh, I bet you are going to say that this represents that, and that represents this...perhaps point to the book of revelation and say that the 6 headed beast rising from the sea represents modern day Israel, Russia and the whore of babylon represents the Catholic church. Oh sure, you will say this with a straight face. But then when it comes to the book of Genesis, you will absolutely say it is literally true, every single word. And you will use that to justify your voting on certain issues, and try your best to make sure that the rest of the country has to live under your un-patriotic and irreligious rules. For people that suscribe to your mind-set, the first part of the bible is always to be taken literally. So much so, that school boards in Kansas basically no longer allow Science in the classroom. But the book of revalation and perhaps a few other places that contain so called "prophecy" is to be taken as allegory. Is that what you are saying? Becuase if you are not, then show me the proof. Show me the events you are saying the bible predicted. And I don't mean general type prophecies, like "one day the there will be an earthquake", but something specific.....

You can't. I already know.
I have nothing against you personally, but your right-wing type of religious beliefs drive me nuts. On one hand you mention "liberal la-la land" (meaning that anyone with Liberal beliefs is crazy and irrational) in your tag, yet you also post pictures of scantily clad models. I think you need to study the bible more. Be less concerned with Dick Hardman's end-of-the-world and UFO conspiracies, and more with helping the poor and loving God with all your heart. There should be enough on your plate just handling those two things.

First off, I am a Conservative, not a "right wing Neocon"... and I am not against Science, I am all for Science, as far as all the evidence, Secular Historians have verified and acknowledge the existence of Jesus Christ, and the Bible is not only God's infallible Word, but a Historical book that can be backed up by Science, History, testimony from Non-Christian sources, and on and on... I am pretty much done with the two sided endless liberal vs conservative rants, but I just am not a fan of liberal politics or policies, no offense to libs though.

Down from History, God's Word has been perfectly preserved, people who say otherwise either don't know what they're talking about or would always say anything against Christianity anyway.

And as far as the models, who doesn't like beautiful women... don't be so uptight. I quit posting them though because people like you seem to like to point out and cry about it... as if Christian Men should act like they don't notice women.

Yeah the Pharisees ruined it man... they will take everything over the top... just like when they called Jesus a Winebibber and Glutton the moment they saw the wine and if he took a second helping of food..

Of course I am not against beautiful women. But usually, any time you are dealing with fundamentalist religious philosophies, of any type, you find that they have a harsh view towards the glorification of feminine beauty. Burkas, veils, plain dress, no make-up (look at the latest mormon sect in texas, for example) are what is required to make women as unnattractive as can be. That's why I find it ironic that you, as a conservative Christian were posting pictures of super hot models in all thier carnal glory. I am just reminding you that if you make statements like "all bible prophecies are true" then that means you need to adhere to all parts of the bible, no? And the Bible clearly has a problem with women's attractiveness. For the record, I don't. I liked your pictures, especially of Megan Fox. Throw a few nice Asian ones in there, and your aces with me!

I guess I am just bothered by the focus on what I believe are all the lesser points of the Bible. This is what turned me off from the big non-denominational mega churches an old girlfriend tried to make me join. It was always gays, gays, gays, abortion and end times. Very little focus was on the significant sermon of Jesus' ministry, which is possibly the sermon on the mount. I was turned off from it, because the Bible does not say in what porportion your beliefs should be. It does not say that irritation with gays and end time prophecy are more important then when Jesus said "God is love" or "turn the other cheek", or many of the other fundamentaly awesome things God said. But I think a little common sense should always be used. What feels right? Working in a soup kitchen or trying to scare people with the mark of the beast, or NATO, or the federal reserve?

I actually had a hard core fundamentalist Christian co-worker tell me with a straight face that the Dalai Lama was an evil man, and probably the anti-Christ!

To address my other point, you said that God's word has been perfectly preserved through time. That's not the same as saying that every Bible Prophecy has come true. In fact, you avoided that point.

I don't have a problem with most Christians, or even with the Christian ideology. I am one myself, and if I had a major problem with it, I would not go almost every Sunday like I do. But I like hearing our Pastor speak. He always stresses that he preaches from the "extreme center", in other words, not far left, and especially not far-right.

Another problem I have always had was the mixing of religion with politics. THAT's what I call un-patriotic and un-American. This country, though predominately Christian, also houses Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus and Athiests. They deserve to live thier lives free, and not have to bow down before someone else's rules that come from a "holy" book they don't have to read. Too much harm has been done, and not enough good from following a narrow minded religious outlook.

That's my two cents. Nothing personal. I have been called out for making blanket statements and statements that can't be proved, so I think you are not immune to the same response.

Hey no problem Arieson, I understand that the subject of religion always sparks wars, and I have no problem if people disagree with me. I won't apologize for what I believe, but I will never say people must believe what I believe. I was raised roman catholic, and the fact that today I am a Christian, is a miracle in and of itself and my life is a testimony of the Grace and love of God. I'll present what I believe to be God's Truth and let men decide for themselves.

Just remember this: That dirty, smelly hippy banging ridiculously on his Djembe drum in People's park is a child of God. God made him. And that La-La Liberal may have a heart of gold, and may only want the best for this country, though you disagree with his style or philosophy. I don't expect to convince you, and I don't think this thread needs to become a "war". We are just talking here. And I think Catholics are Christians, so I hope I understood your correctly. I don't personally like the Catholic church much at this point, but I understand them to be Christian. I am a Methodist myself. The Methodist church which brought you fine institutions and concepts such as prohibition, "dry counties", corporal punishment in Sunday School and hard wooden pews, but also was instrumental in abolishing slavery and helping women vote. It's had a mixed history. At once, socially conservative AND liberal. A paradox.

CAN I GET AN AMEN!!

I believe in God. In the Bible's God but I am faaar from the perfect Christian. I've studied God's word, have lived it out to some extent and can testify for the wisdom of the Bible. I don't claim to know the Bible cover to cover and I don't force my beliefs on others, but I do hope that when someone needs help (and sometimes myself) that I can draw from God's wisdom.

The way I view my Faith is like King David of the Old Testament, a Man with weaknesses (women), but despite it all was a Man after God's own heart. The awesome thing about the Bible is that it is the lessons of real life men and women and the mistakes that they made, and the victories they had. In King David's case, here is a case study of a Man who if he had not committed the Sin with Bathsheba, who knows how much greater he could've been; at the height of his Power he was growing greater and greater because the Lord God of Hosts was with him(2 Samuel Ch. 5) It's a lesson for Christians today for a call to Obedience, a call to Greatness if some were Obedient enough and daring enough to pursue it with Faith. It also serves as a sobering reminder of the damages of Sin and its sometimes irreparable consequences and fallout.
