Exclamation seni 03 (UK Martial Arts show)??

Is anybody going to Seni 03 at the NEC in Birmingham?

Has anybody been to the show before? Was it any good?

I'm thinking of going.

This is what I found on another site about the event.....

Ian Freeman Seminar

Cost: £25, including entry into Seni03.

Time: 2.30pm till 4.30pm

SFUK Mat:

Cost: FREE

Time: 10.00pm till 2.30pm (times TBC) = workshops, demos etc
Time: 2.30pm & 3.40pm (times TBC) = KSBO fights

-----------------------------------

SFUK Mat

This will not be a usual SFUK Open Mat.

After much discussion we decided a normal OM with guys just rolling about doesn't fully showcase our sport to anyone passing by. Therefore, we have decided to focus more on workshops, demos and the KSBO bouts.

We were told we can charge what we want...

...so I am choosing to make it FREE.

Please support the sport and spend as much time at our mat as possible.

ATTN: Instructors

If you would like to teach on the SFUK Mat (the biggest showcase for your skills you're ever likely to find) then please contact me: nleverton@netscape.net

Similarly, if you have any suggestions for instructors, or would like to do a demo, please contact me.

-----------------------------------

Stalls

Stall 433 - SFUK, Fight Magazine & Total Grappling Videos

Stall 311 - UFC, including launch of new merchandise

-----------------------------------

Tickets

Ticket line is 0870 7300063

£6 in advance
£8 on door
Weekend pass of £10 in advance only

Just got back from Seni. Lots of little kids in Japanese/Korean gi type things running around! it reminded me a lot of one of those careers fairs you go to, when companies give you leaflets and try to persuade you that "theirs is the one!" The UFC stand kept on giving me their carrier bag full of leaflets, even though I had three already!

I managed to pick up quite a few copies of "Combat" and "Fighters" magazine for free. They will be going in the bin once I've scanned through to see if there were any good articles.

The demonstrations were ok, but it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to the martial arts. There was one demonstration team demonstrating an Indian martial art called "Gatka" which looked completed weapons based. That was something I've never seen before so was intrigued by that. There was also the usual "kids doing kata" stuff which I watched for a while. I was looking forward to Krishna Godhania's demonstration on the FMAs, but it was way too short, and it seemed like it wasn't rehearsed at all.

I should have bought a lot more stuff. All I bought was a kobutan and a Bob Breen video on Panantukan. From watching the video they were displaying at the Bob Breen stand, it looked quite informative. I'll let you know what I thought of it when I've watched it. I was going to buy a Kamagong stick (or however you spell it) because it was heavier, but they were quite expensive and I didn't want to buy just the one.

Anyway, it was a good day out though!

Thumbs up

Yeh, just got back too & quite enjoyed the show, some of the kata's were of a high standard & some of the young kids very impressive.
Hadn't seen professional arm wrestling before so that was quite interesting (although it took a while to get the guy's happy with grip).
The wrestling in the ring was funny & very technical.
A nice selection of equipment & weapons for sale.
Liked the ground wrestling.
The thai title bout was ok but more knee's could of made a better fight (a lot of clinging on later).
Will post pictures tomorrow!!!

Its funny because around 11am, I was watching one of the katas, and I heard an announcement for paramedics to go to the mat area! I was tempted to go and have a look what happened!

Arm wrestling seemed to have a large presence at the event!

Did you play that "poking lights" game?

Some of the kids were quite good. I was impressed with some of the kids boxing demonstration around the ring area!

I didn't get there until about 11am so missed that.
Did you see the little tiny boy in the ABC Boxing area training, his gloves were up to his elbows!!!, he was so full of energy & was really enjoying himself (good combo's too), i hadn't been to a SENI before so i didn't know what to expect but was plesentlly suprised although it doesn't touch the feeling of Combat 95 or the World's Martial Arts Extraviganser of 93 which was all seated in the Gladitors Venue.
I suppose the best way to describe SENI to anybody who wasn't there was being at the Car Show but with Martial Arts, because the hall was split into Exhibitors Stands who were selling product & 2 matted demonstration area's & 1 ring area in main hall & 1 matted area on higher floor for ground wrestling, i have to compliment the organisers for the demo's as when one was finishing the next was queing up to start so there was always something happening in all 4 demo area's. WELL DONE!!!!
