"white people" didn't enslave the black man, it was money, ofcourse you'll never hear a black person say their were BLACK slave owners. Having a slave was based on money, not color. Also their were Chinese slaves who built railroads, Theeir were Irish slaves as well. So again it was and still is about money,and power, the great thing about America is you have the choice of where you are on the finacial food chain.

My original post also asked if it's just Americans. Americans come in all shapes and colors, that doesn't applie to just the white man.
Like the whole coalition Iraq thing. Oh, the French GOVERMENT doesn't want to help so we'll hurt the French PEOPLE by boycotting their products. People need to realize generally the media is giving a biased opionon. When they show French people protesting the War It's only a fraction of how many are proteting the war in the states.People in the Media wanna bring up how we saved the French in both world wars blah blah. These are the same people who when it is pointed out that we gave most if not all of Iraq's chemical weapons in the 80's during the Iran, Iraq war era. Say that was 20 years ago people move on.....Yet there stuck on 50-75 years ago.

tRUE THAT! BUT going to school to better yourself is what makes the difference. I understand it may be easier for a "white man" to get a job but if your bustin your ass in school it can make a world of difference.

it's not all that easy to get a job no matter what color you are.

I was hired by a major company, hired meaning I was told that I would be starting 4 months or i could move to PA and start immediately. I said I would give up the spot local and go to PA to start immediately. The next thing I know I was dehired. I was told that they couldn't hire me in PA because there were people there who had been turned down for an interview and therefore they would not hire me because they would have to rescreen all those appliants. I was told if I was a minority that it wouldn't have been a problem but since I am white they wouldn't do it.

Once this all played out, There was no spots left for me in the company and I went out to find a job somewhere else.

It's funny that people say it's easier for this class or that class. Well I don't see it personally. I had trouble finding a job.

There is a difference though. My dad was in the financial industry and guess where my brother and I ended up. Not with the same company. But he taught us how that industry worked so we knew the right things to say.

It is hard to do things when no one can tell you how to do it. Or give you the steps. I missed out on a lot of things in college because I was the first to go for my degree in my family. My parents couldn't give me much advise because they hadn't experienced it.

I think the same things is true with minorities. If you're parents didn't go to college, it's harder to get through college. If you're parents were not financially savy then it is harder to become financially savy. That is why over the next ten years you will see more minorities in high paying positions and more minorities training in those fields. Because now parents can help their children by giving them the advantages of their experiences.

I came over to the States back in 85. I was touring, going from coast to coast on Trailways. I had nothing but a few clothes, bus tickets, money and a tent.

I ran out of money and easily found myself a job. I worked in construction for a month (illegally...but I paid taxes!) and saved enough for the flight home.

With my weird accent a few of the other workers thought I was gay (I'm not, but have nothing against gay people). One of your lot came to my rescue and said "He ain't gay! He's British!". After that they all seemed to think I could not possibly be gay, just because I was British! Haw haw haw.

Sexuality: Hetrosexual, homosexual or "brittish"? sounds a bit sinister. Someone made a comment about the colour of your skin. That is racism. It's good that you don't seem to mind because it sounds like it was only meant to be a joke but I wonder what would happen if I went up to a black person and said something along the lines of: "Hey, your skin is dark like shit!!!". Somehow I don't think it would be a very good idea.

In dutch we have a name for using something that was meant demeaning as your own we call that a Geuzenaam (geuzen were freedomfighters during the spanish occupation)

Doing this take away the power of the original wordt but you shouldn't be insulted if others use it because then it doesn't make sense, saying that the meaning of the word changes if a white person uses it, is racsist in itself
