jukado1 is on a distinguished road
Default steven seagal

for an aikido man seagal is a good fighter BUT the reason he taught in japan was he married the school owners daughter and the father retired, as far as segal being the last man standing, he got in a disagreement with gene lebell and took a, oops 2 naps, but then gene was only 70 or so at the time.

I never said he would win.

If I had to say out of all the real martial artist that are alive I would say for sure Chuck Norris if he was still in his prime. Although he could probably still win because we all know that he is a good kickboxer and he is a student of Royce so he must know how to grapple too.

Na, August 2nd.

It's a freestyle submission qualifier for an NHB match. Right now they are only giving the invitations to the NHB match to the middleweight winner but I think by the time it comes around they are going to give it to the unlimited class as well since most people are going in that division. It's a pretty big deal since the NHB match is going to be televised.

Wow thats really cool. I can imagine you feel the pressure.

The only advice i have is make sure you have the stamina, you cant do shit without it. You can do pretty much anything when you have the stamina for it.

Yes its so important MT is really tough on the heart and lungs hence alot of the thai fighter dont have massive muscles as they spend all their time training stamina.

You have to have solid defence and thats the first thing that goes if you are tired.

Hope you win.

Let us know how you go with your preparation.

I hope I win too.

I have been doing 6-8 miles uphill on the bicycle, then 1-2 miles on treadmill, then 1 mile on eliptical trainer, then climb on stairmaster for 10 min. with 60lbs. on back, then do eliptical trainer uphill for 10 min. to finish off.

I hope that with this and rolling everyday I am going to have the stamina to hang in there for the whole thing and take it home.

I ahev always been told by my instructor that the machinesdont cut it at the higher levels, i would say judging by what our fighter do that you need to be running 12 miles a day and never on a running machine. Should be off road over hilly ground.
Its a totally different ball game.

We have guys who go to our gym and they run on a tread mill that does all that terain stuff but when you go and run with them off road its just so different.

The machine cant get the inclines and doesnt suck the energy away like an off road surface.

Well, I can't run on the road on hilly terrain.........I live in south Louisiana and there is not a hill for about 3hrs.....lol.

We have a pretty good running machine over at the gym I use. It is made for running and absorbs the shock on your knees and shins from the impact of hitting the ground. That is essential for me since I have had problems with shin splints here lately.

When I roll in class it is good cardio because the temps. over here are average in the high 80's and 90's lately and we are in an old tin building and have no a/c.........very good for cardio.

I roll about 1-2hrs. everyday and then about 4-5hrs. on saturday.

Yes thats ultimately THE best training you can do for stamina.

Endurance train the exercise you will be doing. i.e BJJ

Whats your striking like?

I am a pretty good striker I would guess. I have pretty fast hands with a damn good bit of power behind them. I have good kicks, pretty fast and strong. I don't know how they judge kick where you are at though.....mine might be considered whimpy over there but we have like 120lbs. bag (might be a little heavier) and with my roundhouse I can pick it up and bend it over. Most people I have fought told me that my roundhouse to the ribs is unbeleivably painful.

Like I said though it might not be that great where you train at because we don't souly focus on striking.

Sounds like you know your stuff, hope your defence against punching is good, i see alot more NHB fights staying upright for longer. A good way to prevent your self getting knocked out id to get a strong neck, stops your brain getting hit by the front of your skull and smashing into the back which is when you get KO'd. Im guessing your neck might be wider than your head though given your training?
