I am not worried that much about getting struck cuz I take a lick pretty good. I have only been knocked out in one fight in my life (compliments of a steel pipe). I got stuck the other night in training by a good hook kick to the jaw........hurt like hell but didn't let it phase me.

When I fight I try to keep it standing as long as possible. I prefer to strike than grapple although I can do both....

the only actionstart(not MA) that was a real Worldchampion as opposed to WC of America like Noris and Lewis or WC from Belgium like JC van Damme is Zwartzenegger he really was the bodybuilding champ of the world

the Rock is just a fysical actor
WWE is just one big soap-opera (with Mcmahon as the scriptwriter)

jet li? you're crazy, man.

while wushu might not be the most combat-effective martial art, jet knows his stuff. in fist of legend, he shows that he can throw any of your basic strikes. and he's just bloody fast, even past his prime. if you watch that kicking duel he has with that weird white guy in kiss of the dragon, it's really amazingly fast, and they slowed the film down a notch.

he used to train for hours and hours on end when he was on the national team for wushu in china. that must have drilled his techniques in well.

but if you don't know how to throw a punch, you don't know how to throw a punch...it doesn't matter much whether you're on camera or not. my point about jet li was that he is really quite incredibly fast, and he has put in a lot of time in the MA, as well as having at least the base techniques down. i don't think he's winning the next UFC, but at least he's a legit martial artist.

Yeah, exactly the point I've been trying to make with you as you insist Seagal could actually survive 10 seconds with Lennox Lewis.

Wow. More ewod and more of a wasted thread. Moved to open access, gents. Blocking punches only works for a second, and even then, only on certain types of punches. It's not going to save you from combinations.

Talking David Carradine...

you guys all forgot that famous martial artist David Carradine! He'd poke the Rock in the eye with his flute and then stumble away into the dessert! LOL Where would the Fonze and Nelson from the Simpsons fit in? None of the really good martial artists (except maybe Bruce Lee) could act worth a toot so they had to use good looking and acting guys that aren't really martial artists.

I really liked the joke about Samo Hung's brother well! Good one Thai! Hahaha.

any martial art(except pure grappling ones) will at least teach you all the right basic techniques like your jab, cross, hook, round(house) kick, etc. put those tools in the hands of a speed demon like Li and you've got yourself one hell of a fight on your hands. it'd be the same with an untrained guy who was that quick, he'll give you a damn lot of trouble.
