Question Starting a Dojo or Designing an MA Store?

About a week ago, I received a call from a friend that trained with me a long time ago. He told me about his progress: Getting his blackbelt, trophies from various tournaments, and certification to teach. After receiving quite a bit of funding, he wants me to be deeply involved in starting a dojo. Personally, I wouldn't mind doing it, but my real passion is in developing training tools [Llike "Q" from James Bond films], and hopefully I want to open a store. What should I do? Any Suggestions?

Run your store out of his dojo.. this way you dont have to have a storefront, there isnt two rents to pay etc... While you are developing your new and improved products you dont need to be paying for wasted space, hydro, etc...

If anything you make becomes successful than consider expanding.

Thank you so much. We've already started doing the setup for the dojo.
About 3/4 of the entire area is for students, training equipment, and a small store front for sparring gear. The other quarter section is a small wood shop like area for me to design training and conditioning devices. It has been working out well so far. Wish me luck!

My friend's school has been slowly, but surely forward. It's a small town, and we have about 25 regulars. So far I've been able to design:

A Six-Sided Makiwara: Deisgned so that a student can condition knuckles, palm, ridge, shin, and instep from the initial position.

Grappling Dummy - Weighs about 93 lbs, and made from army clothing (tough material).

Next project - The Striking Dummy
