Thanks!
Got several more people signed up and a one-hour demo we'll be offering at a local women's gym. Anyone interested can PM me for details or e-mail me at yael@dirttime.org. We are offering $15 off for anybody who preregisters. That's $25 for eight hours of solid training, and the instructor is amazing... Date: Sunday April 23, 2006 Time: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM with an hour lunch break Location: Lohse Family YMCA, 60 W. Alameda St. Price: $40, with $10 discounts for groups of 3 or more, and for family members. $25 for people who preregister. Payment plans are available. Derived from Close Quarter Combat and Counter Terrorism courses taught to the U.S. Special Forces, FIGHTBACK offers women an alternative in proven, practical techniques that will save lives. FIGHTBACK is the most comprehensive women's self defense class that is offered. It is a fun, fact filled, hands-on class in which you will learn how to recognize danger and determine which situations require force, or reason. Signs of danger and levels of personal awareness are taught first, because the best way to win a fight is not to get into one. Next you will learn the basic physiological responses to fear and zero-sum conflict (a situation in which your life is in danger.) This will help you determine what will work for you, in a situation where you are scared and fighting for your life. The most important thing you will learn is risk reduction and the survival mindset. You will also learn how to fight, without using speed or strength, using fear and adrenaline to your advantage. You will learn how to fight from various situations, including inside of your car, from your bed, and how to escape from being grabbed, pinned or threatened with weapons. Plus, you will learn how to use everyday objects as weapons. The knowledge you gain from this class can make the difference between life and death in a situation where survival is the key. Class will be taught by Jocelin Meesenburg, who has studied for over 4 years to be a certified Fightback Instructor, training with both the Director of Fightback, Jennifer Adkins, and the founder and creator of the course, Major Jeffrey Prather. She is a 3rd degree black belt in the Bujinkan Yamaneko dojo, studying Budo Taijitsu – the 1,000 year old Japanese martial art form, from which both the Close Quarter Combat and Fightback courses originated. She has made a study of Budo Taijitsu for the last seven years and has been teaching for the last three. Ms. Meesenburg has been instructing in Arizona for several years now, teaching Fightbacks to local businesses and community centers. These classes have all been exceedingly well-received by the community and are counted as incredible success stories for the women whose lives have been changed, and potentially saved, by this training. We hope you can join us. Please bring loose fitting clothing and a determined mind and spirit. |

OOH I'm getting all jazzed up, three more days!!! We have eight definites, two who say they mailed in checks and about five or six more on the fence.
Also I only know two of these people, which means my outreach is working. There is one more woman that I really really want to be there who hasn't registered yet that I'm going to hassle soon. lolI can't wait for this class!!! Last time I trained for more than three hours was at Daikomoyosai... Last time I trained with a group of women was almost a year ago... I'll be handing out fliers at Earth Day and the Volunteer Fair and some other places, too, if I manage to juggle the fifty things I need to do this weekend properly.
