Default How to pay second instructor?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and I signed up specifically to ask this question; how do you pay a second instructor?

I'm considering taking on another instructor to my school. I teach afternoon and night classes and he would teach morning and maybe afternoon classes. He's very qualified.

If any of you have other instructors, how do you pay them? I'm thinking percent is the best way to go as I can commit any weekly/monthly amount and it will give him incentives to grow the school.

Thanks.

He should make more money for you. A percent might be good but the idea is to HIRE help that can increase your profits.

I tell folks at the farm that WE get paid by the hour but the owner gets paid by the TON. (pound) There is a certain efficiency expected of the crew. They need to pick a specific quantity of produce in order to remain profitable and EARN the wage they get paid. If they only pick a couple of pounds in an hour they are costing the owner more than he makes selling the product.

How many more students will be able to enroll for classes? Do the math. Determine a reasonable salary for his services and offer him a commission for NEW students...

I have no idea if that helps but it's all I got...

Thanks.

I wouldn't pay a percent - I'd pay a straight hourly.

If he teaches an hour $10.

If he teaches 2 hours, $20.

Etc.

That's very common, and also fair.
