I had once taken fencing, that coach didnt participate either.

In many cases, coaches do not become in contact because of ability. As age happens, abilities decline. In other cases, a coach has understood the very essence of the subject, had not actually been a participant, but has great knowledge. So there is a ponderance-Does a coach/instructor have to be able to perform in order to coah/instruct?
