Hi,
I want to use a simple spreadsheet to keep track of who paid their monthly dues. I would like the spreadsheet to automatically show who is late and who is current based on their assigned due date. I attached what I have so far. Any help would be much appreciated to get me going in the right direction. Thanks, Tim |

I have over 20 years experience with spreadsheets. Give a second to take a look at watch you are talking about.

Those "if" forumulas you are using are complex. You said you wanted a simple spreadsheet. Unless you really know excel I would abandon the "if" formula and go to a more simple format using columns (down) instead of rows (across). Also instead of using words like "paid" and late I would just use the dollar amount.
Hope that helps some, if you revise it, I'll take a second look.

uhhhh Tim, did you find what you needed?
Conditional Formating.

Ok Tim, I got your solution.
I assumed you use the comment paid or unpaid for each student. If the student hasn't paid, you enter 'unpaid' and the conditional formatting will highlight the cell in red. Here's a quick tutorial. 1. Go to Format on the menu bar. 2. Drop down to Conditional format. 3. In the box that opens up, select "Cell is not equal to" and in the blank next to it type in the value you want, such as 'unpaid' or you can use a dollar amount. 4. Click on the format button, go to patterns. 5. Click the color you want to pop up if the cell value is not equal to 'paid' Hope this helps.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the help! I followed your tutorial and the column is changing color, however, I'd like it to be able check the column based on the date. As I have it now, it doesn't know which column to check for paid or unpaid. I'm getting closer! ![]() Thanks, Tim |
