In light of the new scandal involving PM Paul Martin in our goodly neighboring country to the north. Where many good Canadian dollars were found to be given to organizations that are sympathetic to the Quebec Separtist Movement. What in everyone's opinion would become of our long time friend and true ally if these Separtist succeed in their attempt to break away from their fellow countryman.

They would build stronger ties with Western Europe, possibly France since their separation with Canada would put them at odds as partners. After all they speak French, allbeit a slightly older version.

The way French Canadians count is nearly opposite of how the French count in terms of number order. On top of that, French Canadians use French words for everything, whereas France has adapted many American terms in their langauge.


Any idea what Quebec's immigration and wellfare policy is like?

If it becomes more like France's, it could open up Continental North America to some unexpected neighbors...

I understand the problem with Quebec and that is certainly something that will need to be addressed, but the question I was trying to pose is more oriented to the rest of Canada. Province by province what is likely to happen to them? Will they unite into a new Canada, will they all seperate into multiple countries, or is it possible that they (with the exception of Quebec) will one by one become the 51st to the 59th states.

If the later is true then I think that the Qubec issue can be contained. Another unified Canada is hopeful, but realisticly unfavorable to the Canadian people because they will start to run a deficit and lose their status as a G8 nation. The complete seperation is extremely unlikely to me due to the complexities involved, but I don't know.
