As part of a United Nations Command on the DMZ in Korea you have been ordered into the DMZ to prune a poplar tree that obstructs the view between Check point 3 and checkpoint 5. You will have 5 Korean Service Corp workers one ROK officer and 2 US Army officers for the work detail. Since you are in the DMZ you cannot carry weapons. you have axes and tree trimming tools and a 2 and half ton truck to carry your work force and tools to the site.
Shortly after your work force arrives at the tree and begins to cut it back, (North) Korean People's Army (KPA) personnel appear at the work site. For a short time, the KPA security force observe the pruning without apparent concern. Suddenly, the KPA security force commander demands that the JSF commander (you) cease pruning or there will be trouble. The 30 KPA guards are wielding pick handles, knives, clubs, and axes. You have orders to prune this tree, what do you do? |

Yeah the real life guys who got these orders probably werent too thrilled either....
Things have heated up though...the North Korean officer sensing indecision has taken off his watch, wrapped it in a hankerchief and stuffed it in his pocket...he is extremely agitated that you are challenging his authority in front of his men...if you dont defuse this quick he is going to snap. |

This one just heated up though... ![]() seeing that he is losing control, the officer in charge of the North Korean security force shouts "MI KUN UL CHU KI GI CHA." Translated, it means, "Kill the U.S. Aggressors." Now the fight is on.... This footage is being recorded on the security camera... |

The senior officer in charge snaps and leaps on the Capt in charges back from behind forcing him to the ground where he is beaten to death. Your first LT is also attacked. The KPA soldiers use the tools and axes your tree trimming detail was using to prune the tree as weapons. The North Korean attack is broken up when a UNC soldier drives his 2 1/2 ton truck into the fight and over the soldiers to protect them. The UNC Security Force then withdrew but not before two American Army Officers are murdered and, a ROKA officer, three Korean Augmentees to the US Army (KATUSA) and four US enlisted men are wounded.
Now that the initial assault is over and you have gotten to safety, what would you do to show the North Koreans this wont be allowed to happen without consequence? |

HMMMM i hope they keep you away from the big guns
So you wanna invade China?... OOkayyy but you only have the 2nd ID at your disposal, one division isnt nearly enough to invade China and part of that division is on daily training in the field... The primary American combat ground unit in the Republic of Korea is the US Army's 2nd Infantry (Indianhead) Division (2ID). Elements of the divison are normally deployed tactically in camps north of Seoul to the DMZ and in from off the west coast about 40 kilometers. On any given day large elements of the division are in the field training for combat - Today is no exception. Upon notification of the murders at the JSA, all units of the UNC including I Corps (ROK/US) Group, all ROKA units, and the 2ID are alerted and told to prepare for action. Some 2ID units are in the field training, and are above the Imjin River and its tributaries. This proves to be no small obstacle, for about 20 kilometers east of Panmunjom several bridges over the river have been rendered uncrossable due to high water from the previous three days of rain. The only bridge available to get back south for units training in the Santa Barbara Range area is the bridge at "Little Chicago." By the morning those elements which were required to return to base camps to prepare for combat had done so and were deployed to their war positions to await orders. [For those of you who have never been to Korea, getting around the country on the ground is not as easy as it would be in the United States. There are always many hills, mountains, valleys, streams, or rivers to cross. Most roads are single lane unimproved and unpaved. If unempeaded, a trip of 20 kilometers can take an hour in a single vehicle. If there is bad weather the trip could take much longer.] Meanwile, the governments of South Korea, and the United States confired on all possible courses of action. Everyone knows we can not let the North Koreans have their way, or there will be much more trouble later. |
