You're out of your fucking mind. The institution of slavery is long since gone in this country. By your way of thinking, as long as there is ever a case of kidnapping or wrongful restraint you can say "slavery" is alive and well. That is a monumental insult to those who truly suffered under actual slavery and those who died to end it. If you want to get excited about real slavery start looking at the Sudan, but don't dishonor history through hyperbole.

Monumental insult? Here's how it happens...people from third world countries get taken in by people who promise to get them into the US, then are forced into labor or prostitution or are killed if they can't pay their dues...or somebodies runaway daughter is turned onto drugs, then gets kidnapped by the people feeding her the drugs, and ends up being forced into prostitution, or sold to the highest bidder and shipped out of the country.
I bet a good 15% of missing girls end up this way.

No man...the civil war sped up ending slavery as an American institution, and yeah, I see the difference between the 400 years of opression and some girls getting picked up and sold into prostitution, and modern forms of human trafficking, because it's not condoned and it's not on the same scale.

BUT JUST BECAUSE IT ISN'T CONDONED BY THE GOVERNMENT, AND IT ISN'T BEING DONE TO A WHOLE RACE ON A MASSIVE SCALE...doesn't mean it's extinct. Slavery as a condonable American institution may be dead, but forms of slavery still exist in our society.

No. The Holocaust was an attempt by a specific group of people to wipe out another specific group of people. GENOCIDE is still going on today, though. Anti-semitism is alive and well....but the holocaust is done.

The early, govenmentally condoned, enslavement of the African race is over...but SLAVERY isn't. Slavery doesn't just refer to pre-civil war American slavery...it encompasses a bunch of shit.
