We've talked a lot about knives lately on other forums, so I thought I'd bring it back to the realm of police and military tactics. In my opinion, these people did it right. Not all of these are knife related, but each and every one carried that threat or worse. In the second clip, the officer was pinned between his car and a known felon with outstanding warrants. I'm posting it because it was pretty controversial. Non-cops said the police officer went too far because the man was not armed. However, most cops agree that in the dark with a known offender who's getting the drop on you, what the guy did was exactly correct. Watch these clips and please understand that what you're seeing is real live humanity. I am not posting this to be morbid, but so that we can have a mature discussion about the severity and consequences of the kinds of things cops and soldiers face. Discuss it respectfully, please. I cannot stress it enough. These are the real-life consequences of our chosen pursuits and professions as soldiers or police officers. All of these things share a common thread in that they are fast, chaotic, and ultimately tragic.
Here's one that shows the aftermath of a couple of idiots swinging a knife at a racoon. Take note of the cut and the minimal bleeding. It's on an outer side of a big muscle group. This is pretty indicative, not only in terms of blood but also of shock. He's speaking pretty evenly despite pretty horrible damage.
