Default Kickboxing and broken noses...

i am thinking of starting kick boxing...
is there a big chance that someone is gonna break my nose..?
i am not being afraid of pain but being hit on the body and the head is one thing and having a broken nose is another...

i had an operation and i dont want to have another for a broken nose... or is it a long shot and its something that will happen to those who take in tournaments...?

There's a good chance that your nose will get broken.
The high risk factor is there. If it will happen or not, nobody knows (or is it nose?)

If you are starting kickboxing and you are concerned about breaking your nose, you can purchase headgear that will protect your nose. Some have a "nose bar" and some have face cages. I had surgery on my nose and don't want to go through that again so my instructor actually ordered headgear with a nose bar for me, and it works quite well for me. If you are worried about breaking your nose, then just use headgear and you can at least enjoy training. Don't let your fear of injury stop you from training. Also since you are just beginning, you might just want to spar with an instructor who you trust, at first.

i have broken my nose countless times.. it isn't that bad, they took mine (a part of the bone) out after a while, so the bone stops 2-3 cm's further up than normal.. quite ok!

Harden up bro . A broken nose isn't that bad, and it will only come back stronger.

I don't know if anyone agrees with me on this but......the more it happens the less it hurts, and the stronger it gets. I had a proper wonkey donkey on the go, right handers had broken it so many times it went west! so I sparred with a south paw for three months, well I'm pleased to say the bad boy is as near as damn it centre line again ha ha. I can fight righties now and it hasn't even bled, so go at it mate, these things have a way of sorting themselves out. A broken jaw is worse I fear that the most! brucie bonus and a lisp anyone? ha.
