I know that most of you know that I am a fan of French muay thai superstar Farid Villaume, but i am creating this thread with the intent of staying as partial as possible.
According to several French kickboxing sites, Villaume is very discontent of his loss in the finals on several grounds. When he agreed to fight at Kings Birthday 2003, he had been told by MR. Ratanasuban (the promoter) himself that elbows were not allowed in the tournament so when he was elbowed in his first fight with Neuntrakarn, which opened a huge cut above his right eye, Villaume was quite confused. Nuangtrakarn was neither less doing a great job at destroying the french legs, which had barely recovered from his fight with Sackmongkol in November. Being handicapped in his legs and cut by several elbows, Villaume chances to win were slim as Nuangtrakarn was winning on points. But in the last minute of the last and 3rd round, Villaume miraculously managed to give Nuangrakarn his famous left hook which KO'ed instantly the Thai. The Thai crowd was left speechless. Nuangtrakarn doesn't get ko that easily! Villaume was thus qualified in the semifinals to fight the thai Mankong who is the current champion at the Rajdammern stadium. AS his predecessor nuangtrakarn, The thai Mankong for some reason worked Villaume's right legs as if he knew his opponent's weaknesses. Villaume's again was behind on points as his legs were hurting him and chances were slim once again for him to win until he managed to give his miraculous left hook at the once again LAST MINUTE OF THE THIRD ROUND! The thai crowd was left speechless and in awe by Villaume's win. He was now in the finals facing the notorious Sor Ploenchit. For some reason, the fight was to be fought on 5 full rounds of 3 MINUTES. A tired villaume had to face the devastating kicks of Sor Ploenchit who was scoring with devastating kicks to the body and legs. Villaume on the other hand was looking at cornering his opponent to KO him, because he knew he had the punching power to do so. On the 4 th and 5 th round , however, something very controversial happened: The thai decided to make the 4 round stop at exactly 2 minutes 23 seconds instead of 3, and the 5 th round was stopped at 1 MINUTE AND 53 SECONDS!!!! Villaume's team was extremely upset about it, and they are suspecting this to be a strategy from the Thai so that Villaume couldn't even had a chance to KO his opponent in a last minute attempt as he had done before in his first 2 fights. For those of you who have the fight on video, please be sure to time accurately those last 2 rounds (4 and 5) and confirm this to all of us AXERS, so we can know if this is indeed the truth. Here are my questions: WERE ELBOWS ALLOWED OR NOT IN THE TOURNMENT 71KG TOURNEY? Why WAS THE 4TH AND 5TH ROUND STOPPED SO EARLY instead of a full 3 minutes? |

Here is what Jean CHARLES SKARBOWSKY said about his friend Villaume during the tournament:
FRENCH: « Farid s’est débarrassé de NUNGTRAKAN par KO durant la dernière minute du premier combat, et de MANKONG (Champion du Radjadamnoem) par KO durant la dernière minute du deuxième combat… Ils ont eu peur que les statistiques ne se vérifient sur le troisième combat et ont préféré supprimer les dernières minutes ! » ENGLISH: " Farid got rid of Nuangtrakarn by KO in the last minute of his first fight, and of Mankong by KO as well in the last minute of this second fight. It is possible that the thai were afraid of the statistics, and that the pattern repeats itself so they preferred getting rid of the last minute of the last 2 rounds (round 4 and 5)! |
