I've been training in Muay Thai for about 6 months now and I'd like to practice more at home. To that effect, I'd like to buy a punching bag that would be good for training combinations including strong roundhouse kicks, foot jabs and and a variety of upperbody strikes... the catch is that I can't install a hanging bag, and I'm considering buying a bag that stands on its own using a water or sand filled base.
does anyone have any recomendations as to which brands or products will work best for me? Which products will hold up against constant strong kicks and punches? Thank you very much. |

I have the Everlast Jonny Sock- it-to mee freestanding bag... Its alright for some handwork but it doesnt give you the resistence that a heavy bag does. I had the same problem no place to hang a heavy bag. I see they sell heavy bag holders that sit in a corner, sams club under 100 bucks. Might be your best bet. I am actually thinking about getting one. I am not impressed with my bag, there might be better ones out there, I dont know. Hope this helps.

Get a big wooden pole, saw out a portion of the pole from the top and dynabolt a thick piece of wood in there. Slam it in the ground, drill a hole, screw in the hook, and theres your bag holder!

The same questions come up from time to time. Check out these two threads on different bag types and options.
Help Fairtex 8' Pole Bag!?!? 50 lb punching bag I've gone the standing bag route in the past and it wasn't worth it for me as you'll read in the thread above. I came up with some options for hanging a bag in an apartment. William
