Question Advice for newbie?

I'm very interested in martial arts. I'll be starting a kickboxing class next week, but it only lasts two months. I'm mainly taking it to get in shape fast and learn some basic techniques. After that I need some advice on styles/arts to get serious with. Anybody help me out?

Yes I've done some research. I would prefer to take Shorinji Kempo for it's hard and soft techniques, but there are no qualified instructors in minneapolis. MT seems to be available almost anywhere I look. I'm really looking for strong self defense, a physical challenge, and some fun. I can take or leave the spiritual aspects.

Sounds good MA. There are plenty of other styles around here in minneapolis, but I guess I'm being a little picky. So I think my plan will be to start with the kickboxing, it's just a community ed class taught by a former champ that lasts for two months. Then I have a martial arts center that I can join where I can take MT and JKD.

The style isn't as important as the instructor. Most styles have something to offer and with the right instructor you can make that style viable for self defense.

I saw another thread where they were arguing about whether MT strikes were stronger than WC strikes. Everybody had their own opinion of course and they all seemed to contradict each other, even if they were on the same side.
