Hi, I just started Muay Thai yesturday and so far I have been to two classes. I must say that it is very fun.
When class begins, we start off with jump roping for about 5 min. Then we move onto punching, kneeing, low kicking, etc. on the thai bags. We do this pretty much the whole time, working on different combinations and what not. At the end of class, we do a hundred situps and passing a medicine ball around in groups, then we do 30 pushups. I can't wait until I am more trained and actually start sparring. So, anyways, I am curious to know what your training routines in your class are? |

I goto Warrior Way, which is mostly a BJJ school, but with Thai Kickboxing classes Mon-Fri., associated with Team Caique. My classes are taught by Matee Jedeepitak. Matee is the winner of 3 consecutive Lumpini Stadium Championships as well as the World Muay Thai Council Championship.
I think half the reason why I enjoy the class so much is because Matee is such a great guy and very helpful. |

WHAT
you are training with matee, you are one lucky dude to be a beginner and be able to train with such a good trainer/fighter. I watched him workout over in sanfran, he was amazing!!!! He has the biggest calfs i have ever seen!! !! You should conciter yourself blessed, and treasure every moment you get to spend with him. In my book if you are a lumpini (or raja, or thai) champ you are doing something right, and you deserve some major respect. Good luck, train hard, and maby you will make something of yourself.

I train in st.catharines ontario under roger lumyoung our routine is pretty much the same exept we do crunches not sit ups and while doing our combos we uaually have to drop a couple times to do crunches/push ups and then back to what we were doing.I ve been there for about four years and I love Muay Thai.

Thats real cool, I can't wait until I get that much experience.
And alex, I know ain't that cool? I am very lucky to have him as my trainer and that just makes me wanna train twice as hard! |

Hi Steve,
I live in Milford and work about a quarter mile from Warrior Way. I am thinking of starting up with the Muay Thai myself. Could you give me some more details on your training there? Did you go for an initial class before your signed up? Did you have any martial arts training beforehand? Any further details on what the class activities consist of would be great! Our classes are rather "dynamic" in that we change what we do from day-to-day based upon which students attend class....
But generally, our class goes like this... 10-15 min's of warming up 3-5 rounds shadowboxing 3-5 rounds heavy bag drills 3-5 rounds pad drills/partner drills 15-20 min's sparring 15-20 min's calisthenics Sometimes we will drop certain drills in favor of others, or even do more drills in one particular area. Like sometimes we might spend 1/2 the class doing "solo" drills (specific shadowboxing), and other days we might get right to sparring for the bulk of the class. Sometimes we don't spar at all. Other times we will spend a great deal of time working on clinchwork.
