lame question.
I'll help you rephrase it: "I just saw a bout between thai and burmese boxers. Does anyone here have information about burmese boxing, and if so, can you make comparisons between the strengths and weakeness of each system? Also, please elaborate on the rulesets used during matches"

Why do people constantly do these versus topics? Muay Thai is widely used because it is more effective as a one-on-one style. That's all there is to it. Other stand up styles can probably offer good supplement, but alone, Muay Thai is the best stand up art.

Amadeus, don't you know anything about Muay Thai? It utilizes elbows and knees, not just punches and kicks... plus the fact that many people skilled or not get beaten up on the street, regardless of the style. The best self defense is avoiding the problem altogether.
As for Sherwinc, I know what you're all about, so I won't even bother. Later... |

my point was simply that punches are the safer strike to use in the street. therefore a safer (and better) option in the street. |

1. Forearm Blocking 2. Hand Nuetralizing 3. Forearm/Hand intercepting 4. Circular Hand Deflecting 5. Fist against Fist 6. Trading Fists 7. etc.... and things like that....... not by just: 1. Forearm Covering 2. or Using Head to block opponents punch Note: if Muay Thai emphasize these defensive moves then - Muay Thai will be the best stand-up martial arts for now and the years to come with no revision..... think about it.......

ok boss, I'm not going to take anything away from muay thai, it's pretty hardcore. BUT, it's not about "best style" I know straight boxers who can kill muay thai kickboxers in a stand up fight, and vice versa. I know street fighters who can beat the hell out of both. you can learn every technique in the world, and if you can't apply them when it counts, they are absolutely useless.

you have to master your every techniques a thousand of times and dont stop until you master it - then proceed to next technique.... and so on.... note: just like mastering 26 English Alphabets before you can compose 1 thrillion English, Filipino, Dutch, Spanish, etc. Alphabets.......starting from grade1 up to finish colleges.....

throughout history and even today any form of unarmed combat is at best a last resort, nowadays it's more of a sport.
weapons training and having simple weapons (a pen, a ceramic non-metal knife, pepper spray, tazer) are far more PRACTICAL for the average person to use for self defense, and shit haven't you ever heard the expression "don't bring a knife to a gun fight?" Yeah well don't bring your fists to a streefight. If all you want to do is kick everyone's ass, your time is much better spent learning weapons. boxing, wrestling, muay thai, all this stuff, you should be doing it because you LOVE IT, and you want the workout to stay in shape, not purely for self-defense!

haw haw haw haw why? you need a knife if you have 12 opponents while your gun is loaded with 10 bullets....... your knife can kill a thousands of opponents without dulling your knife...... Note: the reason why Japanese soldiers during world war II bringing their samurai swords in the heat of war....

WRONG HAW HAW HAW HAW If its a gun fight then the other guys have guns too. So if you a knife vs 12 guns your still fucked. I would much rather have a gun in this situation, cause you can always reload..... Plus your stupid. And actually why they brought their swords was because it was a backup and close quarters weapon, like a bayonet. And again your stupid. |
