i hear cheetah muay thai in emeryville is pretty good. Also www.Kungfu.net(ebm kung fu) in oakland is good for sanshou, which is similiar to muay thai.

hey whats up Sanshou2. its me jonathan from EBM. i was thinking about trying out amsterdam gym for muay thai. i am checking out other schools around here. i was doing Brazilian jui-jitsu for a little bit but they charge too much. I liked EBM allot better anyways. If i end up not liking these other places im gonna stick with EBM. But if i dont come back im always down to have a sparring partner from another school. keep in touch.

I would also say Cheetah Muay Thai in emeryville is pretty good...I just started there about 2 months and I'm learning quite a bit...but im still only a beginner...its one hell of a work out !!!

Before I commited training at Amsterdam Gym with Ercivan I tried a few East Bay Gyms maybe this will help you:

West Wind Sok Fu - A joke, lost about $250 in 2 months learning nothing, scammers teaching 3 inch punches wearing cowboy boots.

Pacific Kickboxing - Good gym, somewhat boring instruction. Great location. Mike is a former Fairtex fighter and knows his stuff.

Cheetah Muay Thai - I am not so sure if I care about learning all the names of kicks and punches in Thai during the Traditional Muay Thai class. In a month all we did was low kicks and knees on the bag over and over. To program is expensive and I felt like I was contantly being sold a pair of shorts or a tour to Thailand. Cheetah is nice but he is in the Muay Thai business! He does have a few good fighters.

Amsterdamgym with Ercivan - After a few group classes Ercivan took me aside and explained that he could work with me one on one. He felt I was " talented" My first thought: Here we go another sales pitch... it has been 8 months and he has not asked me for a penny, but made me feel Dutch Muay Thai; often walking away with a black eye.

Bro Ercivan is the Dutch Muay Thai Master Blaster! I saw him sparr with Rob "Hammerkick" Kaman during a seminar in at Amsterdam Gym in Oakland. 4 out of 5 rounds were Ercivan's but I guess Rob had a plan he took Ercivan down with a liver shot in the fifth round. But damn standing up against the legend Rob Kaman. I heard Ercivan also fought Ernesto Hoost back in Holland and a whole bunch of current dutch K1 champs. I have Rob Kaman's match against Ercivan on tape if you need it. These other schools are all fun and all but if you want the real deal train with Bunkerd in San Francisco or Ercivan in Oakland.
