Default Arizona Muay Thai Gyms

I was wondering if anyone knew of any muay thai gyms in the Phoenix area. I live in Glendale so a gym there would be ideal. Thanks again.

I know Bro. I am in the same boat. Ever since I moved here from DC, I haven't been able to find anyone in Muay-Thai to train with. I live in Tucson. I did find one guy however, but he disappeard on me. I wish I could find someone again. I have been training for the past couple of years by myself and it's old already.

Do a search on Yahoo. I typed in Muay Thai + Arizona and found listings for Flagstaff and Scottsdale. I am sure there are several more. If there are any around you guys, it will be on the net.

Trust me guys, I have done all those things. There are no true Muay-Thai teachers here in Tucson atleast. Maybe in Phoenix, but that drive gets old real quick. Especially if you want to train 3-4 days a week. Thanks for the help though, I do appreciate it.

Morkul,

Sorry it's so "dry" there man, I figured you already did all the homework, but thought I would mention it anyway, I lived in Des Moines for a year, a couple years ago, and was surprised to find absolutely no Muay Thai, considering how big the city is. I ended driving back home and continuing with seminars til I eventually tested for Ajarn Chai and now have a school in Carroll Iowa...atleast I get to train now..lol. I checked and the TBA has no representation in Arizona as far as I can tell. Just curious, what is your background with Thaiboxing? Good luck with everything!

Well I trained with Guru Steve Braun in DC for the first 3 years of my training. In that time I attended several of Ajarn Chai's seminars, as well as Guru Dan's. I took better to the Muay-Thai so I continued to better myself a that. I've only been training since 1994. The first 3 with teachers and such, but then I moved around alot and finally wound up here. I miss training so bad. Like I said, I did find someone who was Thai certified, ex-Seal infact, but like a Seal, he disappeared on me. He was the only one here, technically certified to train Muay-Thai. There is plenty of people here who claim to train in MT, but I've seen there so-called classes and are full of shit. They'd make Ajarn Chai so angry at the fact that they are descrating this great fighting system that has been around since the 14th century.

Morkul,

Hey, here is a thought for ya, just my '2 cents', but for what it's worth.....with your background, have you thought about starting a little club there yourself with guys from work, friends, whoever wants to train hard.....and either as a group, bring someone in to get you closer to certification again, or as a group, make the trip to the closest seminar you can find. Maybe Fozzy in Glendale could do the same(depending on his background) and the clubs would grow from there in Az. Pretty soon, the TBA has representation in Az.

As far as Thailand goes, I want to go too, hopefully this next December or January. Maybe there is something there we can hook up on together.

Again, just some thoughts for ya. My email if ya want it is pete@progressiveselfdefense.com. if ya want it.

Cool, thanks for the e-mail address Bro. I will definately contact you. On the other note about starting a club here,;I don't want to get into trouble with others if I did get people together. There are people who will train, I am sure, but alot of "Meatheads" around here might take offense to it. They're big on their tradition around here and most only want people to learn Karate or TKD, or Hapkido, and such. Muay-Thai, shit, I get the worst looks from the traditionalist's. But I love it, and to me, that is what counts. Again, I will be in contact with you Bro. Cheers.....
