Thanks D and Tom. Could you give me an example of how you used your Thai skills outside the ring? I am pretty comfortable with my kicking, and I can rock the crap out of my 100lb bag
, as well as a rib or leg, but as some of the guys mentioned earlier, sometimes the distance is closed so fast that kicks might not be an option, unless you strike in the clinch and push off to a leg kick. I do like using vert elbows over the top in the clinch, and Lord knows, they hurt, and can end it. With all the advice in this forum I'm receiving, I think it's time to work on the clinch more. I'm ok at it now, but there's always room for improvement. Plus, all my experience has been in a ring/sparring environment with no one trying to kill me, so naturally my confidence in a real situation is somewhat dimmed since I've never used Thai against someone who is not in the same environment and mindset as myself.
