I don't know CTKing or his agenda, but despite what he says, Kevin DOES train fighters. I met Kevin in the early '90's, and he was training fighters and promoting fights then. Furthermore, numerous tapes exist of the events Kevin has sponsored, and in every one I've seen, he's clearly visible in his fighter's corner. This is not just past history -- I believe one of his boxers did well in the NYS Golden Gloves within the last year, and, when I trained with him last week, he mentioned that he is training one of his Muy Thai students for a fight in the fall. Additionally, again despite what CTKing says, with one exception, every time I made the trip to Cortland to train at his school, sparring took place. In privates, he'll usually spar me personally. Heck, we sparred at a lesson two weeks ago. More than that, you obviously know Ajarn Chai and what he does or does not tolerate. I'm sure you'd agree that he would not allow someone who teaches improper or inferior technique to remain an instructor in good standing for more than 15 years, nor would he have tested and certified more than 20 instructors trained by this person. In my opinion, the fact that Kevin is the NYS rep to the TBA, and acknowledged by Master Chai as an instructor in good standing, carries significant credibility with those who know the type of person he is. It is unfortunate that personal attacks like Alex's -- which started all of this -- can indiscriminately be posted for the entire TBA and internet community to see. A simple request for a central NY instructor results in all of this?

Hey Chilli Dog,
I do agree with you and believe you all the way. Ajarn Chai's history speaks for itself, and very highly I might add. I don't know Kevin personally, but I have no doubt that every word you said is right on the money. I think the TBA is a GREAT organization and all of the certified instructors are more than qualified to do what they do. I wanted to lash out at Alex again, but felt the more professional approach was the right way. I was not in any way trying to disrespect Kevin in the process. I think Alex's age speaks for itself in this matter, added with a lot of misinformation from someone to him. You are also right about the personal attacks...I regularly view another board and it is filled with personal attacks and usually with no name posted. It gets kinda old. Take care, bro. |

Listen, I know Alex personally and he is an extremely talented individual, although he still has much growing up to do, as would and does any teenager. However, I also know Kevin Seaman personally, and at his age (damn near close to 50) it is a tad immature to degrade another human being, especially so personally, and online, and I laugh at the fact that Alex is a quarter of Kevin's age.
I am appalled by Mr. Seamans lack of respect for Alex, as he divulged several personal facts about Alex. Alex is a fighter, not a trainer, nor instructor. Alex "trains" a few individuals--however the individuals are under the complete impression and understanding that Alex is not a "certified instructor" and that his guarantee is to strictly show you the basics and get in shape. I am very proud of the fact that he, at 16, is able to do this, and do this well. Christ, the kid's younger than me and I've learned a thing or two from him. I vouch for what CTKing had to say in his post...As I also know him very well. I trained with both CT and Kevin at Kevin's old gym in Cortland. Kevin is an instructor, plain and simple. He does not possess, and this is not a bash, what it takes to be an aggressive fighter. Kevin is strictly here to make money, and gain a sense of respect from those around him, which in my opinion, is a false sense. However, CT and Alex both have never spread any rumors or nonesense about Mr. Seaman, although they have discussed him on their own with one another. On the other hand, Kevin has taken it upon himself to spread numerous lies and false assumptions, if you will, about CT, CT's gym, and his fighters. How much respect does that deserve? As a fighter, if there is such turmoil between you, Kevin, and CT, and Alex---and Kevin's "fighters" as well, I agree with CT...come on down to the gym, and we can have ourselves a little sparring session--all out. But I do suggest that the trash talking end, as people are becoming pissed off, offended, in some cases, etc. If we all just grow up... |

Ummm, excuse me but how can you say "However, CT and Alex both have never spread any rumors or nonesense about Mr. Seaman, although they have discussed him on their own with one another."?? My gosh, read their posts!! They have done nothing BUT slam him and spread rumors! Mr. Seaman has remained respectful and mature in his posts.
By Alex saying "The stuff he teaches is SHIT !, and he is a washed up joke (like chai)." THAT is not "nonsense"?? And all of the comments from "CT", if that was actually him, THOSE were all typed with the intentions of slamming him. Looks like you need to "Grow Up" along with Alex and CT. If Alex really feels that Master Chai is "washed up", I suggest he put his money where his mouth is and attend one of his seminars, then we will see who's "Muay Thai" really works.

I train under Sifu in Muay Thai and he is a great trainer.
When Alex joined Muay Thai him and I always sparred so the idea that sifu doesn't spar is bull. We always spar at Cornelle University at every class. Sifu has tapes of him and his fighters at events with sifu in the corner Alex and I use to watch and study them all the time. So yes he does train fighters and make events because I am a fighter of sifu's. As for CTKing correcting sifu's fighters I find that hard to believe you are strictly a boxer not a Muay Thai fighter. 30 or more students you say. I would make it to every class at the academy and we never had more then 6 to 8 students at a time. So how you make 30 out of 6 I wouldn't know. Cost you say well you get what you pay for. I would rather be a Porsche then a Honda. Sifu's class's are fair from boring they are very experiencing and energetic. He is very fit and pushes you to your limits. Sifu has also been inducted into the Martial Arts Hall Of Fame you know that takes a lot hard work and he holds at least 6 black belts in different arts. His students today own their own gyms and do very well at least 5 of them that I know of. Yes he is 50 and should be proud of it. He can out do me Alex and the the youngsters at the college I hope I have that ability at 50. I did challenge Alex and he decided it would be better to talk it over, very wise choice on his behalf. Alex was doing good I'm not sure where this disrespect came from. He could be a good fighter someday he just needs to get his priorities straight. Alex I know you are going to read this please follow my advise and apologize to your piers meaning Sifu and Chai and don't get mixed you in CT's and Sifu's conflict, concentrate on your goals of being a good fighter for all of this will just distract you. I will be fighting at the Rexplex in Elizabeth, NJ on Sept. 4th Promoted by Boridon's Gym Located in Brooklyn,NY I did not bash anyone here so I expect they same respect, if not I don't have to hold my temper like Sifu I will retaliate. |

I noticed that there are a couple of newbies popping up on this thread for both sides. I say do what you like, this is forum and people have a right to speak out even if it is rude. Half the people do any way, it is much more fun that way.

Who cares you can figure out what he is saying, a lot of people make errors on this site, especially spelling. Just let it go man, there is nothing that can be done. Obviously they were asleep during english classes.

At least you've found a means of communication appropriate to your skill level. Is your legal signature a big 'X'?
