MTVs Real Life: "I'm a Muay Thai Fighters"

I just saw this documentary on MTV. I was just wondering if anyone else saw it. Basically, it was about 2 American Muay Thai fighters go to Thailand to compete in a bareknuckle fight. I thought it was pretty interesting. Any comments?

No but I wish I could see it... all they have in Thailand is this crappy MTV Asia that plays nothing but boy bands and Britney Spears.... ugh.

kit sux ass because his gf is so incredibly hot and he would ignore her all the time. plus, i dont really like cockiness at all.
the other boxer , i forgot his name was realyl cool. he looked like a chill guy, and he was a dj, but he was also a badass kickboxer.

She wasn't that hot. She looked (and acted) like a high maintenance Barbie doll. Defiantly a splash and dash until she changes her princess attitude. I agree the 2nd fella was more likable of the two and rooting for him. I couldn't have cared less if the 1st guy won or not. All in all it was decent.

In the documentary, it sounded as if Western fighters are not really welcome to train and/or fight in Thailand. Why is that?

I recently read an article about this bare knuckle competition and it wasn't that Westerns weren't really welcome (b/c I think they were), it was more of perception that Western fighters wouldn't be tough enough to handle a bare knuckle tournament. In the end, 4 out of 5 of the Western fighters won their fights and quickly put any doubt to rest.

Otherwise, I'm checking all over the MTV site and can't find any information on air times for this episode - anybody have a little insight?

If you missed this MTV show you missed seeing a spoiled blond girlfriend that complained about Thailand's heat, was repulsed by the food, the crowds, the smells, and the local customs, and was more interested in selecting a cute short pink skirt to wear to the fight with no thought whatsoever to the conservative local dress customs. You also missed her boyfriend (who must have taken one too many kicks to the head) tell everyone how good he was, over and over and over again, and you didn't get to see "Master Toddy" beat his students with some sort of a stick during training, which the two MTV fighters said "really hurt".

Oh, and you also missed two brief fights in the Thai backwater town of Mai Sot (a small border town that is not what you could call a center of Muay Thai activity) where the MTV heros knocked out a couple of the local Burmese kids.

But you didn't miss much having to do with Muay Thai.

lol, u pretty much summed it all up rocco. however, kits slut gf was hot, even though she was high maintenence and complained about shit. and master toddy looked rediculous in his blue outfit, whatever that shit was that he was wearing.

    The fights!

I registered at cmxsports.com for free to see if I can get some highlights of the barenuckle fights and to my surprise, I clicked on the Muay Kad Cheuk 2 hour barenuckle fights from Thailand which is for paid premium customers only and viewed the entire card. This includes the fights you saw on MTV's Real Life: "I'm a Muay Thai Fighter"

I saw that documentary. When i saw those fights i thought those American guys would have gotten their asses knocked out, but it suprised me when they knocked out the thai fighters becuse the documentary said thai people only eat soup then practice muay-thai. but i also think the muay-thai fighters weren't top notch thai fighters

You rarely saw them throw a kick or knee. It looked like they were uncomfortable with thier tools. All they mainly did was jab/cross/hook stuff. Oh and i think I saw an elbow some where? It wasn't that good. Once again,MTV destroys something real people love.

Hello Kit, You shouldn't worry about what people say on this board. Half the guys here never fought in the ring or even on the streets. I have to hand it to you. You are living your dreams as a Muay Thai fighter and now MMA. Good luck!
