just ridiculous, personally I don't think the MT guy is an MT guy at all, something strange going on here but the TKD guy does throw some smooth kicks to be honest
link to clip is here (wmv format) and, just in case of crap, I am NOT a tkd fan |

judging that he is trying to block low kicks with his arm tells me has about... 2, 3 months training. against someone who is obviously quite competent in TKD. now, if we see a tkd fighter using tkd kicks effectively in an international comp, against thai fighters, american kickboxers, boxers etc.... that would be something

Yes, check out the previous K-1 match between Serkan Ylmaz (TKD) vs. Masato (muay thai). A great fight between to highly skilled fighters.
The only problem is that Serkan didn't defend well against low kicks, but was able to suprise Masato once or twice and land. Masato won by decision. Ylmaz legs were swollen.

This guy didn't look like he had trained for very long at any art. With any distance striker, specifically TKD, the best and safest place to be is on the inside. Not trying to take anything away from the TKD guy because the scissor hook kick was pretty nice, but an experience MT guy should know that he has an advantage with hand/elbow techniques over a TKD guy. Get inside and and throw 'dem bows.

once again guys, especially Harry above, I am not saying that one fucking style is better than another, I came across the video clip, was surprised, and simply thought it might be of interest, especially in view of how often tkd vs. other style/s has been discussed.
So, i posted a link to it, if anyone doesnt like this then there are many other threads to go and read. |

First off, I do not see an arm raised, so we do not even know if the TKD really won, what we see is that he managed to hit 4 times and that every hit is shown 2x and the guy in KB/MT shorts getting a standing 8 count at the end
Second we do not know if the guy in the showrts is MT, this is normal ring atire in K1 like matches 3rdly, and this one is for the MT addicts, if MT is so good that 6 months of training is enough to defeat any TMA then 2 or 3 months of training should make him perform much better than this, dont you think?

I can't open the link, but do have a couple of observations.
Firstly, people start a style, become mentally linked with it, and then no matter what other type of training they do, they carry on fighting under that banner. Hence Kimo claimd to be TKD when he used steroid assisted weight training and wrestling to maul Royce Gracie all those years ago. Secondly, others go the opposite way. they claim to be one style, but train in far less effective ways than most proponents of it. The only real way to compare styles is to get two clones. Give them the same amount of training in the pure form of their respective style, and then let them fight each other without rules. As for TKD versus Thai Boxing? Well, only a twat would think that classes involving Kata, air punching, ballet like kicks and flicky semi contact sparring could take on people who hit bags all day and then spar full contac with fists, elbows, knees and low kicks. It really isn't rocket science. |

I've seen it now.
The Thai guy did sweet nothing. You can't win without attacking. But all credit to the TKD guy. He was up for it and fought with balls! A clear winner for Tae Kond Do. |
