It definitely helps, much like any abdominal exercise will toughen up your stomach as well to take a good shot. I'd rather do vaccuums and abdominal exercises all the time rather than letting my buddy uppercut me in the solar plexus several times a day and not do anything else. Vaccuums can and do help, it's what many of the old pros used to take punches without even blinking that would drop the average man on the street.

I just said start off with 5 cause that's how I learn them, 20 should be fine. Lying downs a good idea, good to get used to the movement first then once you get it you can do it anywhere: driving in your car, waiting in line, watching TV, etc.

Alright thanks ill see how they work... I still dont know if im doing em right.. but after i do a bunch... for 20 seconds.. and go to do crunches.. my abs are a bit tired before i even do a crunch.. where they normally wouldnt be.. guess thats a sign... I just exhale all my breath... then suck in , breath in while sucking and just try to compress my stomach as much.. while lying on my back.

I definitely cant do them for a minute yet. I dont even know if while training I am able to hold my breath that long. That will surely take some time.

SamuraiGuy.
what I found best is, its not just sucking in. Once you have your abs sucked in, you push out on your upper abs as hard as you can. Kind of pushing them out against the resistance of the suction. I still do regular crunches and everything. But you can do these while doing crunches also.

Being in top shape is definetly the best way to protect yourself against hard shots to the body. This is just another excercise. It is one that had been neglected in my training though. So it does help me.

As long as I helped at least one person, it's all good Glad to know you're digging them HtTKar.
