Default Is Ajarn Surachai Sirisute O.K.?

I just saw on the news tonight that over 10,000 people have been declared dead or injured or something like that in SouthEast Asia as a result of a massive Tsunami caused by a level 9 earthquake.

I know that Ajarn Chai was visiting Thailand for his yearend trip and I didn't know if his parent's place was near the coast. Does anyone know if Ajarn is alright?

Thanks guys and our prayers go out to all those in that part of the world. What a horrible thing to have to go through.

I just hours ago emailed Ajarn Chai but haven't heard back from him yet. The earthquake and subsequent tsunami occurred West of Thailand, on the Indian Ocean side. The Sirisute family home is well inland, North of Bangkok near Duong Muong Airport, and would not be affected. Usually when the family goes to the sea over the holidays they go to the Gulf of Siam, which is across the isthmus from the epicenter. However, I hope to hear something soon and will post here. I know there were many of his students with him this year, and some were planning trips to Phuket. Hopefully he will let me know how they are also.

Thanks for the updates Khuen Khru Wilson. I missed seeing you this year at Thai Camp. Congratulations on a successful and exciting Krabi-Krabong seminar. I read a write up on it and am glad that the attendees enjoyed and could really apprciate your level of skill and knowledge.

Best wishes for a happy new year. And thanks again for your updates on this unfortunate situation.

Nothing can kill that tough S.O.B. LOL. I met him in new jersey at the hun school. I witness him test 3 disciples for instructorship. It was utterly awesome. He wanted to demonstrate a choke hold on me and I said My neck is o.k. and the whole gym roared with laughter.

Yes if anyone hears from Ajarn Chai it would be great to know he is OK. My thoughts go to all those people caught up in this terrible situation and wish them all a speedy recovery.

Ajarn Chai and the Sirisute family are all ok. None were near any of the disaster stricken areas.

Hello,

Confirming Mr. Popejoy's posting, Ajarn Chai talked to one of the guys here and he's alright. Unfortunately, some of his students, members of our extended Muay Thai family, live on the coast and he's very concerned about them.

Default Phew!

Than you Khuen Khru Popejoy.

We mainlanders here in Utah are all relieved that the Sirisutes are alright. Our hearts continue to go out to those who have been affected by this terrible tradgedy.

I'll pass the word on.

Default Great News

It is great to hear that Ajarn is safe. We are all very fortunate to have such a huge network of support, friendship and brotherhood in the TBA. It is this amazing man who is responsible for developing this circle of strength and fellowship and bringing us together. Thank you Ajarn, we are all relieved to hear you and your family are safe. Our hearts and spirits go out to those who were less fortunate in the wake of this tragedy.
