I have heard there is an English-translation out now, so possibly it might be in some theaters before summer, in the US at least. But the good news is, Ong Bak 2 is in post-production and might be available before the end of the year. As a side note, 2 of my instructors from the Buddhai Swan spent a week doing fight scenes in Hollywood for a major studio last August, and that movie (I am trying to find the name but communication with them now is very difficult, as the Buddhai Swan is no longer extant and they have been forced to move from their lifelong home) may be out some time next year.

I have two versions on DVD. Both I got off of EBAY, but you have to look for the "uncut" version. The translation is kinda lame and there are two scenes cut out on the cut version. The "uncut" version is noticably different and better. Tony Jaa is incredible, the stunts are awesome. You also have to make sure to get the right "region" for your DVD player. Check the back of your player to find the region code before you order. The price I got was $14.99...the "buy it now" price, plus shipping of course. I also have one that is The Making of Ong Bak. Great stuff, buy it is all in Thai. They didn't have an English of it.

I think of this movie as an awesome Kung Fu movie but without Kung Fu...instead its all Muay Thai.

I just hope they don't dub the movie in English cuz it sucks to see chinesy looking people speaking with american accents while their mouths don't match the words. Just looks so stupid. I prefer subtitles.

If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest buy the Uncut Edition available on ebay with english subtitles. That's how I got mine after mistakenly buying one with Chinese subtitles in chinatown, NYC

My English version just has English subtitles - which are rather funny cuz of the 'translations' ...

So what are these 2 scenes in the uncut version? What are these scenes of? More fighting!?!?? lol, cuz if that's so, then I'll get it... that guy's stunts are awesome, as well as his fighting.

LOL I love when he fights that crazy Australian dude or something ... with the greasy curly hair... and, can't forget bout that asian dude he fights with the suit - the dude with the quick legs (like a wannabe Muhammed Ali) lol.

Just read on a movie website that Ong Bak is due to be in theatres tomorrow Feb 11th. If it plays here locally, I know what I will be taking the wife to this weekend....!

Ong-Bak is a great muay boran movie...does anybody else think that the fight with the asian guy in the black suit at the bar was some type of jeet kun do?...maybe i'm imagining it...but i really think they were trying to pin Muay against jeet kun do.....oh well

I too thought that it was JKD and highly disagree with the person saying that the suit guy resembled a wannabe muhamad ali... The only thing I would like to add that it also reminded me of a olympic style tkd fighter with all of the switching of stances he was doing to try to set up/fake his kicks...but that sideways stance & quick shuffling of the feet definitely gave me a Jun Fan/Old style JKD flashback of Bruce Lee.

In all honesty the fight scenes in this movie are the best I have ever seen in any martial art movie. Yes, the plot was predictable and not too orginal but the fight scenes of this movie are in a league of there own.

If you guys liked Ong Bak you are gonna love “Tom Yum Goong” (Ong Bak II) The real title is “Tom Yum Goong” named after a restaurant in Australia. Many of the same people are back in this film. The idea is a elephant is stolen and Tony Jaa needs to travel to Australia to retrieve it. Yea Yea I know same basic story but still you got love it. In this film he fights some huge guy in the final fight. I mean this guy is huge something like 7’5” 320 pounds he is just big.

Another rumor floating out there is that Tony Jaa is in the works of working with the two brothers who made the “Matrix” to star in a future project they have planed. He has started to take English lessons.

Yet another rumor has him working with Jackie Chan……
