I bought a Thai Shorts with a Hanuman picture on it. However, someone told me that it is consider to be an insult since Hanuman is one the gods in Thai culture. Could anyone confirm this? Thanks.

same type of thais looting royal treatures to sell to museums abroad, same type of thais decapotating buddha images to sell to foreigners and thai a-holes, same type of thais posting insults to the king on foreign websites, same type of thais degrading "war going" muaythai into the "sport" form we see on stage nowadays, just to earn quicker money. thailand has ignorant people as well as any other country, even if in small amount. |

I see your point, but one of the largest Thai equipment companies, ThaiSmai, sells Hanuman shorts.
http://thaicollectible.com/thaismaireadymade.htm (Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the Hanuman patch they sell on shorts) I stand by my argument. Granted, I have not been to Thailand myself, but I do know a lot of Thai's here in America and have a general understanding of some of their political, religious, and social views. The impression I have is that sure, there are some Thai's who would find such a representation of Hanuman to be disrespectful, but the majority of Thai's likely do not. However, if I remember.... I will specifically ask my Thai coach and Thai friends when I return from vacation next week. |

i didn't say it would be disrespectful, for myself, i don't mind.
i'm just saying if the hanuman is around the crotch not on the sides it might cause some hanuman worshippers to aggrevate. but you bought it, be happy n' wear it. it's yours mate, don't stress yourself over an item. cheers. KhunKao, what argument?? i wansn't arguing, i was merely making a point for precaution. cheers. |
