I don't train Muay Thai, but definitely appreciate it.
You guys have great elbow strikes. I understand there are some (I heard 12) basic elbow strike drills. I learned one at a seminar this weekend - great stuff. Can you point me to an online site where I could learn more of them? Thanks, JK |

uhmmmm... shit I knew of one...
I think www.muaythai.com or www.muaythaionline.com They had probably over 100 techniques on there and how to execute them properly. If those sites arnt good, google muay thai, it's one of the results on the 1st page~ im sure of it.

Elbow strikes can be appriciated alot, but i'm more interested in knee's and shin conditioning.Any good ideas on building more powerfull knee strikes and most definately conditioning on my legs (shins in particular)?

Ehh, I've searched for about 1/2 an hour. I came up with nothing =/ sorry guys. I'll post it if I ever come across it again.
Mmm well apparently all you can really do to condition your shins, is to kick heavy pags. Knees, im not sure, probably just do it over and over?

Forget all the rolling bottles and hitting the shins with objects. Kick the bag, Kick the bag, kick the bag....get the idea? Some say to kick a hard bag to deaden the nerves more. Ajarn Chai says to kick a soft bag because you can kick it longer, more times...thus better shin conditioning.
The knees, same principal basically, knee the bag, knee the bag, knee the bag....(Just playin'). Walter Michalowski, in his thai videos, takes a pair of dumbbells and does knees repeatedly as if shadow boxing skip knees and short knees for 3 minute rounds. Also, go to a gym that has a cable crossover system....Place one pulley high up with a handle or rope, the other pulley at the bottom with the strap for your ankle...hook it up and pull your knee up while pulling down with the other pulley to the same side as the knee you are raising. Make sense? You will get some more power this way. Also, while I do not recommend throwing kicks with ankle weights on (chance of knee injury), throwing knees with ankle weights seems to be beneficial as well. Hope this helps! |
