Results are in. I don't have them all, but do know that Sauer beat Buakaw in the final match and Dekker beat Ludwig by UD. The "Diamond" knocked Duane down in every round.
Ramon "Diamond" Dekker is still THE MAN. But Kudos to Duane for stepping in the ring with a legend like him. I would love to see the fight on video if anyone on here get a hold of it. I hope Ludwig is still able to fight next month. |

I was not slamming Muay Thai Guy, I just asked the question after he was praising "his uncle" so much earlier, and now after the fight, he says nothing. I think it is good that he thinks so much of his uncle, that is the way it should be, but I thought he would have some comments anyway. And no he is not too busy because he has already read this thread and posted on other threads today. BTW, what the hell is "backyard kickboxing" that you have listed in your profile under martial arts studied??? No martial art I ever heard of. |

Muay Thai Guy,
Did you watch the fight? I havent' seen it yet. Whats your perspective? I know you train with your uncle, was he using his tools effectively? Once I see the fight, I can have an opinion of my own, for now I'd love to hear how you think the fight could have went differently.

The little 15 year old punk doesn't know shit. I say the best synopsis he can conjure up will be "Dekker cheated" or "Someone drugged my uncles water" ...
![]() No disrespect to your uncle, he is professional, I am not... yet anyway. I'm sure he lost fair and square. Dekker is the better fighter, and that's all there is to it. On the otherhand, your fucking arrogance was blown out of the water now wasn't it Muay Thai Guy? Mine is still around

WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!
listen, stop giving each other shit. Both Mr. Ludwig and Mr. Dekkers are professional fighters. They are competitive peers and are both extremely talented and skilled fighters and both deserve alot more respect that any of you goddamned armchair fucking referees and armchair fighters. Listen...Duane Ludwig is a supherb fighter who has done a great deal to help popularize a sport, and has even gone so far as to compete in MMA as well as his original muay thai. He is a well rounded fighter who deserves mucho props, because even though Ramon Dekkers is a legend, and as much as I hate to say it, I've never seen him compete in MMA. Both of them have already made an indelible mark on the world of martial arts, what the **** have YOU done? stop talking shit until you accomplish something, m'kay kids. |

I said this in my last reply. re: paragraph two Duane Ludwig has made Muay Thai so popular that I've never heard of him... yeah that makes sense. Although Dekker doesn't compete in MMA, this isn't the MMA forum. Therefore this is no place to be talking about MMA. re: paragraph three what the **** have I done? I've obtained the nickname Ong-Bak. WHAT THE **** HAVE YOU DONE

For you're information, the Duane Ludwig v. Alex Gong K-1 fight brought Muay Thai as an art in front of millions of people who usually don't watch the K-1 programs. (it's always being aired on tv, along with the Michael McDonald v. Remy Bonjansky matches)
Sure, Duane wasn't the first american muay thai guy to compete and do well in K-1 (he lost to Gong in a controversial decision)...but those two were perhaps THE most popular fighters in the lower weight classes. Alex Gong, Duane Ludwig, and Ole Laursen are all names most muay thai fighters in America should know. Dekkers is a given, just like Ernesto Hoost...and those two are guys that anyone can find a highlight reel on in Limewire or Kazaa. It's like saying that Haggler and Hearns don't mean shit compared to Tyson and Holyfield...don't discredit great fighters because they aren't AS popular as the top marquis names. Mr. Gong and Mr. Ludwig were two people who inspired a whole new generation of younger, smaller sized fighters, especially because both perpetuated the new concept of a kickboxer in America crosstraining grappling to become an elite mma fighter. (Chute Boxe in Brazil also does this, as well as CSW guys...and people like Maurice Smith also helped push the idea, but Mr. Gong and Mr. Ludwig helped carry the torch, and for that they deserve MAD props.) oh...and how the hell did you get the name "Ong Bak"?? What makes you so special, buttercup? |
