Default Muay Thai Training in Phuket

    Hi,

I will be in Phuket for a week in November. I see that there are 2 training camps in Phuket: Rawai Muay Thai Camp (www.rawaimuaythai.com) and Phuket Muay Thai Camp (www.phuketmuaythai.com).

Does anyone have a recommendation about which camp I should go to?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice!!

    Amber

    Default rawai

i just came from phuket and the rawaii camp is much better. although i would recommend spending at least a month there. it takes about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks before you see improvement. Mostly because of the the heat and the intense training. (Body needs time to adjust)

    The trainers are all awesome.

the only downside is accomodation price. it's still cheap by US standards but u can easily find a bungalow relatively near by for a 1/2 or 1/3 the price. i paid 5000 baht for a single room plus fan. No tv though.

Suwit Muay Thai camp is real muay thai camp.
Because not only train for foreigners , they train many Thai fighters too .
    Accomondation about 125 USD a month ( Bungalow : Fan/TV/DVD/Own Bathroom) .

    Default Phuket Muay Thai

I am a beginner with no experience in muay thai. We want to go to Phuket for a month or 2 and have some fun and work our asses off and learn some muay thai.

JTK... What did you like about Rwaii Muay thai? I will be going there next year and was just wondering what you liked and disliked. This guy talking about suwit muay thai must work there coz he's on every thread trying to sell the place.

If anyone else has an opinion that would help, that would be great...

There are two MT camps in Chiangmai that currently accept foreign trainees. Lanna is the better known, mainly because it receives large volume of trainees, despite its limited number of trainers. Many swear by Lanna, but I also have my own opinion. ChaiYai gym is a much better option, and they have produced many outstanding fighters.

BTW I pay for all my training including at Lanna. This is not a commercial endorsement.

Question Which Phuket camp is best

So, I'm interested in going to phukett for a muay thai camp for a month or two to learn muay thai. I am a complete beginner and have no Idea what to expect. I want to be a vacation as well as a training stay. That's why i picked phuket, I like the beaches and everything that goes along with it.

Has anyone been to any camps there? I have seen websites for a few in the area but I can't decide which is the best. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

hey sport muay thai- was a long time ago when i posted my thread, but thanks for your reply. gym didnt end up heading to phuket, as main trainer got called for work when trip was planned.-(fire brigade)-
i went and trained at lanna (christmas time 05-06) for a week, it was alright, big eye opener compared to western gym training, as it was 3 hours long twice a day with 3-15km runs involved. i just went to chaing mai again(dads house) with a mate and we did some training up in the village muay thai gym, (really it was a undercover area at the primary school in the area) was really good fun, seeing how all the locals train - and seeing how many young thai people actually train- just like AFL would be in australia.. planning another trip xmas time 06-07 for some more training, nmay head to ChaiYai gym and see how it is, on another note, dads adopted son- fought a 18 year old kid from 'siam no. 1' gym, he was really good, and his trainer was a falang- had good boxing skills..

    thanks for ya help.

I was there in February and will be back in October/November.
I trained at Phuket. The training was good but mangement absolutely stunk. Enough that I will probably try Rawaii next time. The only reason I wouldn't is because of the connections I made at Phuket. If I was a first-timer, I'd go Rawaii for sure.
