Default Give me a Clue?

I'm new to Martial Arts all together, and i'm wanting to start off with Muay Thai boxing. I'm not too sure on how it goes, but I know it focuses on kicks mainly. Could someone shed some light onto this? Luckly, there is one school around here that teaches it, so I'm very anxious to sign up, it's just that i'm not so sure how it works fully...

it seems to depend on the gym you go to. the one im at is keen on fight conditioning as well as drills and sparring. which suits me, gets the aggression out in one go. but another club i found didnt work on conditioning at all, and didnt actually have pads heavy enough to kick hard.. not so good.

the main thing your likely to notice is that kicking wih your shins hurts. have faith, in a coulpe of weeks pads wont hurt your shins anymore. a heavy bag will tho... stick with it tho. fantastic sport. well, thats about all i can come up with atm... so maybe someone more experienced than me will take over

Okay, that helped me alot. It sounds dangerous though, but I'm willing to try it. So the final test is like actually like fighting?

fighting in actual muay thai competitions is pretty dangerous. however training and sparring isnt really dangerous. when u train and spar u wear safety gear and u shouldnt be going full force. u will still get bruises and get hit, but u arent gonna get sent to the hospital. u dont have to compete in actual fights if u dont want to, u can just train and spar. in real fights there is no safety gear, other than the gloves and mouthpiece. when u train u wear shinpads and headgear as well so u dont really get injured.
