I know this may sound like a stupid question but. Head movment seems to be one of my flaws. I try to work on it during shadowboxing infront of a mirror but it just doesnt feel right. it feels like my body just doesnt wanna go for it lol. Is there any other way to work on head movment???

Also, use peripheral vision. You can't look at a punch and still have time to move your head away. You should focus on your opponents kneck area and use your peripheral vision to see where the punches are coming from. This little millisecond is what you need to keep from getting clobbered.

Exactly. And even when your opponent doesn't throw punches, still keep your head in movement. You don't always have to actually do the full movements of bobing and weaving, but you do need to keep you head moving. This keeps you alert and enables you to react quickly when the punch is actually thrown. If your head is still and your neck muscles relaxed the reaction will be slower.
Also, when you partner throws the punches, he must use the same movement as he would if he was really trying to hit you hard, so he must use proper technique all the time (using the hips and shoulder). |
