Hmmm, Muay Thai guy does not seem to have his heart in the fight at all. Plus, he does not make use of his "reach"... well for that matter he does not even seem to be a good puncher/kicker. Poor representative for a TKD vs Muay Thai fight.

But I love how the commentators seem to have all kicks broken down to "low kick" or "high kick"

Have to agree with Tassadar. This muaythai guy has terrible boxing skills; his punches are off balance and has terrible distancing for a pro-fighter. Most of the TKD vs. Muay thai fights that take place in Korea seem to pit decent and fairly aggressive TKD competitors against B-class mt fighters who take dives.

Here's a clip of a good TKD vs. Muay Thai fight. Rules are as follows: No kicks to the head, no punching to the head, no elbows, no knees only kicks to the leg and body.

KSW is right though, sometimes size or style don't matter. Koakkalai KO'd Mighty Mo who has levelled big names in K-1 (and also survived a building collapse on him). Mo had a 110 lb weight advantage.

Honestly, I didn't think Koakkalai would win either...maybe on points.

So, pretty much a Muay Thai fighter working under TKD rules... and still winning handily.

It's kinda misleading to call it a TKD vs. MT fight because both guys are throwing Muay Thai Roundhouse kicks. It's more like MT vs. a guy using TKD and MT.

Im aware that it was a pretty awful display from the 'MT' guy, but the technique and power generated by the 'tkd' is pretty decent, and who probably put decent fighters down, especially those of a similar hieight and weight.

Yeah it is.

I trained with an individual who was the WTF jr.middleweight champion years ago. He could kick high, cold and hard but was never really a powerfull low kicker. Still, he won half of his fights by KO.
