I've seen the Ultima before, never been in there but heard they lean more towards the MMA thing instead of strictly muay Thai. I think they teach Krav Maga too. Where do you train in Phoenix? I didn't think there was muay Thai there since Fairtex left.

Thank you very much for the info. You know FMA? I learned a smattering of
Filipino martial arts from my Thai boxing instructor years ago. He held expert levels in various FMA's but didn't really share any of it with us except on special occasions. Good luck in your training. Later. |

Beginner? I bet you know more than I do; my training in FMA is so miniscule it's hardly even worth mentioning. I learned a few moves from Dumog, which is basically the Filipino version of Judo. I know a few of the 'striking angles' (1-12) with an escrima stick and another stick strike I've never heard of outside of my instructor's school called a 'roof strike'. I know a few empty-hand moves from Kali, and a couple of moves having to do with knives, which is one thing FMA is well-known for.

I wish my buddy who showed me grappling 101 was still in town b/c he was always looking for guys to train with, but he moved away. He was a great guy, pretty little so he really had great technique. Anyway neither of us had matts so we'd train in the park and then be sore for the next four days, lol.Anyways let me know what your training background is and what you're looking for (PM me if you want) and I'll keep an eye out. Also there's gonna be a WSD class in Tucson on April 23rd that this really amazing woman from Phoenix is teaching, so if you know any women (ESPECIALLY if they don't train) who need to learn basic physical and psychological self-defense skills, I could get you/them the info. It's an all-day class, eight hours of training, pretty intense, and only $25 if they pre-register... |

My background is Muay Thai chiefly with a slight smattering of Jeet Kune Do
Concepts and Filipino martial arts. I'm mostly looking for people to just hang out with and train, not really lessons because I can't afford them. Later. |

So word on the street is that the address I posted for Aaron Haynes is really outdated. He now teaches at the Tucson Racquet and Fitness Club out on Country Club, of all places. He also teaches cardio kickboxing there.
And he'll teach privates for only $25/hr or $35/1.5 hr, which I think is a great rate for someone who's been practicing for over a decade and studied under Surachai Sirisute. Just wanted to post the update. update. There's also an MMA training group on the East side that's only $50/mo for 3X/week, meeting at someone's garage. Anyways, thought I'd share.
